Dear Residents of City de Boisbriand,

We are AirGreen, your trusted partner for all your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) needs. We understand that each municipality has its unique rules and regulations, and we are here to guide you through those specific to Boisbriand.

Maintenance Work Without Permits

In Boisbriand, certain maintenance and ordinary repair works can be carried out without the need for a construction permit. This includes the installation of heat pumps and air conditioners, which are only permitted in the backyard. Although these installations do not require a permit, it is imperative to adhere to the specific standards in place.

Installation of Heat Pumps and Air Conditioners

  • Positioning: Heat pumps and air conditioners must be installed at a minimum distance of 2 meters from the lateral limits of your property and a maximum of 2 meters from the building.
  • Noise Consideration: It is crucial to minimize the noise emitted by these devices to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in your neighborhood. Specific noise standards must be observed.

Noise Standards

  • Quiet Hours: Excessive noise is not permitted between 10 PM and 7 AM on weekdays, and between 10 PM and 9 AM on weekends and holidays.
  • Noise Limits: Devices, including heat pumps and air conditioners, must adhere to the noise levels listed below. If not, the background noise at the boundary of a neighbor's property should not exceed 50 dB(A).
    • Less than 5 minutes: 14 dB(A) during the day, 12 dB(A) at night
    • Between 5 and 30 minutes: 9 dB(A) during the day, 7 dB(A) at night
    • More than 30 minutes: 5 dB(A) during the day, 3 dB(A) at night
