That is not necessarily the air of the room where you spend your evenings: near a basement floor, it tends to be cooler, and if it brushes past the unit, it can be warmer. Mounted on the wall of the room itself, the GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTY-XSZXZ1 remote sensor corrects that gap by taking the temperature where it counts. Take off the GENERAL label and you have the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE UTY-XSZXZ1, which we also sell (the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand). On January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited officially took the name GENERAL Inc., following its acquisition by Paloma Rheem Holdings; nothing has changed regarding the manufacturer, the factories, the AIRSTAGE products or the model numbers. Since GENERAL will gradually replace the Fujitsu name, the part is sold for now under both labels, and AirGreen offers both as an authorized GENERAL and Fujitsu AIRSTAGE dealer.

The temperature read where you live

In practical terms, the UTY-XSZXZ1 connects in place of the ducted indoor unit's return air probe. From then on, it is the real temperature of the occupied space that guides the heating and cooling: fewer premature shutdowns, fewer cycles that drag on, and steadier comfort. Nothing changes in your routine, though, since the sensor retains the temperature adjustment: you set the setpoint as before.

Three types of ducted AIRSTAGE (GENERAL or Fujitsu) units accept it: slim duct models, medium static pressure models and multi-position air handlers (AHU). No battery to keep an eye on and no power pack to install: the indoor unit powers it.

A cable long enough to change floors

In the box, the sensor comes with 33 ft of control cable, about 10 m. That is enough to go up from the basement to a ground-floor wall, or down from a suspended ceiling to the wall of the main room. As for the housing, at 2-3/16 x 2-3/4 x 1-3/16 in., it is quickly forgotten.

Technical specifications

Type: remote ambient temperature sensor, wall mount

Compatible systems: ducted AIRSTAGE (GENERAL or Fujitsu) indoor units

Applicable models: slim ducts, medium static pressure ducts, multi-position air handlers (AHU)

Function: replaces the return air probe for a more accurate room reading

Adjustment: retains the temperature adjustment

Power supply: from the indoor unit

Connectivity: wired

Included: sensor with 33 ft control cable

Display: none

Dimensions: 2-3/16 x 2-3/4 x 1-3/16 in. To adjust your system, you keep using its controller or its remote.

It is mostly in winter that the gap makes itself felt: depending on the case, the ducted unit heats longer than it should, or the living areas stay a little cool. With a reading taken where you live, the heat pump holds a steady setpoint, which pays off in comfort and savings over a long heating season. In summer, the logic is the same: no need to overcool a floor to make up for a reading taken close to the unit.

Installation, a matter of location

A badly placed sensor measures badly. Our technicians therefore aim for an interior wall, at occupant height, and keep the sensor away from anything that would skew the reading: supply grilles, windows, cooking appliances, direct sun. The 33 ft cable is then run to the unit, the sensor takes the place of the return air probe, and we watch how the system behaves, in heating mode as well as in cooling.

Maintenance

Maintenance-wise, this sensor is easy to forget about. Simply keep it uncovered, with no furniture or decoration in front of it, and away from any new heat source that might appear after installation. Planning to rearrange the room: let us know, and we will confirm its location again.

Why AirGreen

Our Boucherville showroom, our RBQ licence and more than 15 years spent in air conditioning and heating: AirGreen Inc. is a family business, and its technicians install the manufacturer's ducted heat pumps, GENERAL as well as Fujitsu, adjusting each installation so that comfort is measured in the right place.
