It is mainly used to connect a duct to a unit’s collar — \u003cstrong\u003efan\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eair exchanger\u003c\/strong\u003e, range hood — or to an existing duct that does not match the diameter of the new section.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWhen the duct and the collar are not the same diameter\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn a renovation job, it is common for a fan to have a 5 in collar while the existing system is 6 in, or for a new section to have to meet an old duct of another size.
