It requires tools, recovery equipment and methods designed for this type of refrigerant. Its 100-year \u003cstrong\u003eglobal warming potential\u003c\/strong\u003e (GWP) is 675, according to Canada’s federal Ozone-depleting Substances and Halocarbon Alternatives Regulations, and its ozone depletion potential is zero.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eFor units designed for R-32 only\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCheck the \u003cstrong\u003enameplate\u003c\/strong\u003e: a unit is charged only with the refrigerant listed on it.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNever mix two refrigerants, and never top up a charge with a different product.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWeigh in the charge on a scale, to the quantity specified by the manufacturer, after a leak check and evacuation.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSales restricted to certificate holders\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn Québec, the \u003cstrong\u003eRèglement sur les halocarbures\u003c\/strong\u003e (Q-2, r. 29) governs this refrigerant. Its section 51 requires anyone who sells halocarbons to make sure the buyer holds a \u003cstrong\u003eworkforce environmental qualification certificate\u003c\/strong\u003e, or employs a person who holds one. Its section 43 also reserves the charging, maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment for qualified persons. We therefore check the certificate before every sale.
