A Day with Our Technicians: What a Real Installation Day Looks Like at AirGreen

An inside look at AirGreen’s expert daily operations—from arrival on-site to final system testing

At AirGreen, we don’t just sell and install central heat pumps: we live and breathe each project with precision, commitment, and expertise. Behind every well-installed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore or South Shore, there’s a team of skilled technicians, carefully prepared equipment, and detailed planning.

In this article, we offer a real-life look at a typical HVAC installation day at AirGreen, from the moment our technicians leave the warehouse to the final performance verification. This is based on actual projects we've recently completed for residential and commercial clients.

7:00 AM – Equipment prep and loading the trucks

The day starts early at our Montréal facility. Each technician team receives a detailed job sheet:

  • Client’s address, building type (house, condo, commercial property)

  • Model of central heat pump to be installed (e.g.: Lennox EL18XPV, Bosch BOVA-60HDN1-M20G, Goodman GSZV9, etc.)

  • Accessories: plenum, metal ductwork, smart thermostats, anti-vibration mounts, electrical cabling, etc.

  • Tool check: manometers, leak detectors, refrigerant recovery units for R-32 or R-454B, drills, saws, safety gear

Every item is carefully accounted for. Our teams know that forgetting one component can jeopardize the entire day’s work.

8:00 AM – Arrival at the client’s home and site inspection

Our technicians arrive on-site right on time. First things first: a complete site inspection:

  • Access to the electrical panel for the 240V connection

  • Condition of any existing ductwork if adaptation is needed

  • Assessment of the outdoor unit location (clearances, sun exposure, wall distance)

  • Ceiling height available for the indoor unit, usually in a basement or mechanical room

For instance, at a client’s home in Boisbriand, our technicians had to adjust the initial plan because the main duct conflicted with a structural beam. A quick plenum modification kept the installation on track without delay.

9:30 AM – Installation begins: dismantling, placement, connections

The team gets to work by preparing the job site:

  • Floor and wall protection

  • Removal of any existing system

  • Positioning of the plenum and galvanized metal ductwork

  • Placement of the outdoor condenser on a stable base

  • Running of insulated refrigerant lines and cables between the indoor and outdoor units

  • Electrical connections to the main panel with properly rated breakers

For a project in Longueuil, the installation of a 3-ton Goodman central heat pump required particular attention to duct airflow due to inconsistent attic insulation. Our team adjusted airflow delivery to avoid performance loss.

12:00 PM – A well-deserved lunch break, but monitoring continues

During the lunch break, part of the team keeps an eye on the nitrogen pressure test to ensure there are no leaks in the refrigerant lines. There’s no room for error. Every joint, every weld is checked according to the highest industry standards.

1:00 PM – Vacuuming, refrigerant charging, and final configuration

Once leak testing is confirmed, the team:

  • Performs a complete vacuum of the refrigerant system

  • Charges the unit with the appropriate refrigerant (R-32, R-410A or R-454B, depending on the model)

  • Sets up the thermostat, often a Wi-Fi smart thermostat

  • Carries out a complete system startup test, including:

    • Checking airflow rates

    • Measuring supply and return air temperatures

    • Calibrating the system to manufacturer specifications

3:00 PM – Client walkthrough and comfort validation

Before leaving the job site, our technicians take the time to:

  • Show the client how to operate the thermostat

  • Explain overall system functionality

  • Provide basic HVAC maintenance tips

  • Hand over all necessary documents for grants (LogisVert, Rénoclimat, etc.)

At a couple’s home in Sainte-Julie, this step was essential. They had no idea their new central heat pump was eligible for a $5,300 credit. We helped them every step of the way, from the paperwork to submission.

4:00 PM – Wrap-up and internal installation report

Back at the office, our technicians complete a technical installation report, attach before/after photos, and validate code compliance. The installed unit is registered for warranty, and our customer service team follows up with the client in the following days.

What this day reveals about AirGreen’s expertise

  • Technical precision at every step

  • Ability to adapt in real-time to job site surprises

  • Transparent, ongoing communication with the client

  • Full mastery of leading products and technologies

  • In-depth knowledge of grant eligibility criteria

Conclusion: Behind every high-performing system is a committed team

Installing a central heat pump is much more than connecting parts and running wires. It’s about understanding the building, anticipating constraints, following safety codes, and above all, delivering comfort that’s long-lasting, safe, and energy efficient.

At AirGreen, every installation is a promise kept. A promise of quality, performance, and support. Whether you’re in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore or the South Shore, our team is ready to make your project a success.
