Packaged Heat Pump System York XP 10 Ton 575V | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
Ten tons and 3,300 CFM for large commercial and industrial volumes
A showroom with a high ceiling, an open-plan retail store, a manufacturing shop or a shipping area have one thing in common: a lot of air to move and a load that varies with the hour, the season and the activity. This 10 ton YORK Sun Pro packaged heat pump, supplied at 575 V three-phase, delivers a nominal airflow of 3,300 CFM and splits its capacity over two stages of cooling. AirGreen sizes it, installs it and maintains it for the buildings of Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.

Two stages for a large volume that does not fill up all at once
A large space does not always reach its full load as soon as it opens. In the morning, the first compressor, which on its own provides half the capacity, can be enough; the second starts when foot traffic, lighting and solar gains add up. With the IntelliSpeed drive on this model, the supply fan slows down when only the first stage is running, then speeds up on the second. It is this part-load operation that the IEER of 14.5 measures, while the EER of 11.0 describes the efficiency at full load. Like every unit of 6 tons and more, this model has no SEER rating.
The two refrigerant circuits are independent and monitored separately by the control board, which follows the state of the high and low pressure switches of each one. A lead-lag option spreads the run hours between the two compressors.
A packaged unit that thinks big without taking up more room
The principle remains that of any packaged heat pump, with compressors, coils, fans and control brought together in a single outdoor cabinet, connected to the building's ducts. The 10 ton version keeps the same 59 x 89 x 50.75 in. cabinet as the Sun Pro models from 6.5 to 8.5 tons, and the roof curb is common to the whole series. The outdoor coil, with its circuits on separate faces, offers 29 ft² of surface; the indoor coil, with four rows, offers 13.2. Two 24 in. direct-drive condenser fans push the heat upward.
R-410A, the previous-generation refrigerant, is a proven technology. The unit is delivered charged, wired, piped and factory tested, which shortens the work in the field.
What the XP120C00R5B1BAA1A2 model includes
Decoded from the YORK nomenclature, this number corresponds to the following configuration:
- IntelliSpeed variable-speed drive with a high static pressure belt drive (3 HP motor).
- Economizer with a barometric relief damper, able to bring in up to 100% outdoor air.
- Phase monitor and stand-alone Smart Equipment control.
- Standard coils and 2 in. disposable filters.
- No factory service option and no factory-installed electric heat.
Delivering 3,300 CFM: our design advice
A high airflow only gives good comfort if the duct system keeps up. The high static pressure drive suits long duct systems or ones loaded with accessories, and the belt is adjusted precisely to the needs of the job. The unit connects from the bottom or from the side; the factory covers simply move over, with no cutting. In a large occupied volume, the economizer with its low-leakage dampers (AMCA 511, class 1A) brings in fresh air and free cooling in the shoulder seasons, and a 575 V powered exhaust fan can be added when the fresh air brought in has to be exhausted. A CO2 sensor can also drive the economizer open when occupancy pushes the level up.
Heating: heat pump first, electric backup heat when needed
In heating mode, the heat pump delivers 102,000 BTU/h at 47 °F and 59,000 BTU/h at 17 °F. For the colder periods, YORK offers for this model electric heat kits of 18, 24, 36 or 54 kW in 575 V, with nickel-chrome elements, an automatic-reset temperature limit and single point power supply. The heat section slides out of the unit for maintenance. We choose the kit from the actual heat loss of the building and the capacity of your electrical distribution.
Controls and protections worthy of the investment
The Smart Equipment board monitors the outdoor, supply and return air temperatures through factory-installed sensors, as well as the supply voltage, in order to protect the unit during a voltage drop. Its LCD screen shows the operating status and the fault codes, and its USB port keeps the fault history, allows software updates and produces the start-up reports. A low limit function keeps the supply air from dropping below a programmable setpoint when cooling is needed in cold weather. On the refrigerant side, freeze thermostats on the suction line, solid core filter driers, pressure switches and crankcase heaters protect the installation. For remote monitoring, a MAP (Mobile Access Portal) gateway is available as an accessory for this control.
Lifting and connection
- Full perimeter base rails with lifting holes for the crane and forklift slots on three sides.
- Roof curb of 8 in. or 14 in. with an insulated deck, or a 10 in. transition curb to take over the spot of a Sunline unit of 7.5 to 12.5 tons.
- Minimum clearances: 12 in. on the right, 36 in. on the left, at the front and at the back, and 72 in. above so that nothing blocks the condenser air discharge.
- Disconnect switch to be planned in the field, since this model has no factory service option.
- Electrical entry from the side or from underneath, with separate openings for the control wiring.
Trust your 10 ton project to AirGreen
A unit of this size is chosen with a serious load calculation. During the free on-site estimate, we measure the volume, note the occupancy, examine the existing ducts and the 575 V distribution, then we check the access for the crane. Our teams install the unit, balance the airflow, set up the economizer, the IntelliSpeed drive and the Smart Equipment control, then take care of the planned maintenance: filters, coils, belt and a read of the fault history.
