A residential construction site designed for clean air, sound discretion and perfect integration
At AirGreen , we treat each HVAC installation like a small interior design project: the unit must provide daily comfort, while blending into the decor and respecting the building's constraints. In this condo in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , we installed an LG Neo Plasma wall-mounted air conditioner , a solution known for its excellent air quality and discreet operation—all sought-after assets in Montreal homes where space is precious and tranquility is essential.
The client's context and performance objectives
The owner previously used a noisy and power-hungry handheld device. He wanted to:
-
uniform cooling of living areas;
-
a reduction in noise level ;
-
controlled energy consumption during summer peaks;
-
a visually discreet device, aligned with the straight lines of the wall and the existing ceiling drop.
After thermal assessment of the volumes (open living room-kitchen + corridor), we validated the choice of a wall-mounted air conditioner of suitable capacity, with Inverter technology and Neo Plasma filtration from LG , known for capturing fine dust and allergens.
What we actually install
-
Equipment type : wall-mounted air conditioner (mini-split).
-
Brand : LG .
-
Range : Neo Plasma (advanced electrostatic filtration).
-
Technology : Inverter compressor to modulate power; soft start electronics, better efficiency and longevity.
-
Comfort : low noise level from the interior head; multi-louver air diffusion to avoid direct air currents.
-
Air quality : filtration and ionization system designed to improve the capture of suspended particles.
Please note: the installed model is dedicated to air conditioning . For winter supplemental heating needs, we also offer our range of extreme cold wall-mounted heat pumps (R-32/R-454B), eligible for certain subsidies.
Careful integration into a Montreal condo
Interior positioning and aesthetics
The interior head was installed under a ceiling drop , in order to take advantage of sufficient clearance for air intake and optimal diffusion towards the living area. We have:
-
center the device relative to the wall for a balanced visual reading;
-
checked the recommended top and side clearances ;
-
validated the absence of obstacles which could disrupt the sweeping of the shutters.
A light touch-up of paint was applied around the plate after fixing (micro-adjustments of screws and filling), then clean finishing to maintain the homogeneity of the wall. The objective is to make the unit almost invisible in everyday life: the gaze falls on the room, not on the device.
Refrigerant and electrical path
The route was designed to remain short and straight , a guarantee of efficiency and reliability over time:
-
Wall crossing behind the unit, with controlled slope drilling (≈ 5–10 mm/m) for the gravity drain .
-
Holes sealed and plugged on the outside to prevent any air or moisture infiltration.
-
Set of connections (fridge + communication + power supply) grouped in a discreet, light-colored facade capping , in order to harmonize the whole with the building's masonry.
-
Estimated total line length ≈ 2.5–3.5 m, within the ideal range to limit pressure losses and maintain factory characteristics.
On the power supply side, we comply with CSA/CEC standards and selectivity of protections. A dedicated circuit breaker is assigned to the outdoor unit; the communication cable is laid away from sources of interference. These details ensure stable operation and impeccable electrical safety .
Condensate management: reliability above all
In this project, the condo's configuration allows for gravity drainage —always preferred for its simplicity and robustness. We checked:
-
the slope from the inner head tank to the outlet point;
-
the cleanliness of the tube and its insulation to avoid parasitic condensation;
-
accessibility for future interviews.
When the architecture does not allow it, we install silent condensate pumps with safety tanks. Here, gravity remains the best ally: less mechanics, less risks .
Discreet exterior that respects the building
Without any visual clutter, the ducts exit at the rear of the unit. The capping follows the existing relief, which:
-
protects connections from UV rays, rain and shocks;
-
structure the facade aesthetics ;
-
simplifies the annual inspection .
Our fasteners are sized for Montreal freeze-thaw cycles. Penetrations are sealed with extreme cold compatible mastic.
Result: immediate comfort, silence and cleaner air
Upon commissioning:
-
the temperature drops quickly in the day zone, then stabilizes thanks to the Inverter ;
-
the noise level remains very contained, even when increasing the revs;
-
Neo Plasma filters improve the perception of fresh air, a real plus for urban living.
The customer confirmed a significant reduction in power consumption compared to his old portable system, and better sleep quality thanks to the night mode and gentle blowing .
AirGreen Best Practices for Condos in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, North Shore and South Shore
Sizing and choice of location
-
Adjust the capacity (BTU) to the actual open area and sunlight;
-
avoid nearby obstacles (beams, low hangings, tall furniture) which break the air flow;
-
aim for a flow directed towards the passage areas to homogenize the temperature.
Installation and finishing
-
Perfectly level plate for drainage;
-
Silent blocks and controlled tightening to eliminate vibrations;
-
Vapor barriers and insulation on cold connections to prevent any condensation on the interior route.
Commissioning and configuration
-
Deep vacuum (500 microns) and stability verified;
-
Weighing the fluid when the length is outside the standard values;
-
Mode calibration : Auto/Cool/Dry, fan speed and louver orientation according to room geometry.
HVAC Maintenance: The Key to Lifespan
-
Clean filters every 4 to 8 weeks during periods of heavy use;
-
Annual inspection : exchanger, condensate tray, vacuum, electrical checks;
-
Battery hygiene : gentle treatment to maintain performance and limit odors.
About subsidies and alternatives for extreme cold
A wall-mounted air conditioner dedicated to cooling is generally not eligible for Quebec grant programs. If you are looking for a four-season unit with efficient heating down to -25/-30 °C , our recent wall-mounted heat pumps ( R-32 or R-454B refrigerants) are a more easily eligible investment , with high efficiencies and a reduced carbon footprint . We often recommend this option during a comprehensive renovation or replacement of aging equipment.
