Four-season comfort and careful finishing: an HVAC installation designed to last
Customer context and choice of equipment
At AirGreen , we are working in Sainte-Dorothée (Laval) for a homeowner who wants to air-condition the main living area and gain additional heating in winter. After calculating the thermal load and analyzing the envelope (insulation, orientation, windows), we selected an Elios wall-mounted heat pump - a reliable solution for a typical North Shore bungalow, with a capacity adapted to the living area . The objective: stable comfort , silence , and contained operating costs .
Visible details of the installation
-
Outdoor condenser placed on a raised galvanized support to free up ground clearance and prevent snow accumulation .
-
Anti-vibration pads under the feet to reduce sound transmission to the structure.
-
Short refrigeration connection (immediate crossing of the rear wall), covered by UV-resistant beige wiring/capping matching the vinyl covering .
-
Disconnect box mounted nearby, with dedicated power supply compliant with the Canadian Electrical Code .
-
Visible blue coated finned coil : valuable corrosion protection near wet areas and for defrost cycles.
Our method: rigor and cleanliness on site
-
Controlled drilling with appropriate slope for condensate gravity and vapor barrier protection.
-
Calibrated flares , nitrogen in barotest then deep vacuum (< 500 microns) with resistance control.
-
Commissioning according to the nameplate values: intensity , starting current , and superheating/subcooling checked.
-
Sound levels measured in the vicinity and indoors after gradual start-up.
Result for the customer
-
Even cooling of the open area from the first minutes.
-
Effective supplementary heating in fall and spring, limiting the use of the main system.
-
Integrated aesthetics : capping colors match the coating, discreet cables and fixings.
-
Clear service access for future maintenance (coil cleaning, pressure gauges, rear and side clearance respected).
Good practices and pitfalls to avoid
-
Condenser height : In snowy areas, a too-low stand can cause fan blockages in winter. We standardize a minimum clearance of 30–40 cm under the base.
-
Connection lengths : lines that are too long degrade efficiency. Here, we optimize < 3 m to limit losses.
-
Condensate management : as soon as the internal slope is uncertain, we plan a pump ; in this project, gravity is sufficient and avoids additional noise.
-
Corrosion protection : the grassy environment and snow removal cycles justify an annual rinse of the battery.
Recommended HVAC maintenance
-
Clean the wall head filters every 4–6 weeks in summer.
-
Wash the outer coil in spring (gentle jet).
-
Annual AirGreen inspection : electrical tightening, static pressure, probes and parameter updates .
-
Winter clearance : Keep 60 cm free around the condenser for efficient defrosting .
Grants and Compliance
Many energy efficiency programs target high-performance heat pumps in Greater Montreal. Depending on the capacity , low-temperature performance index , and certification of the chosen model, financial assistance may apply. We verify eligibility on a case-by-case basis and prepare the customer file (detailed invoices, installation photos, serial numbers).
Why Elios for this type of housing?
-
Condenser compactness : ideal for narrow side yards typical of Laval 's residential neighborhoods.
-
Silence on both the evaporator and condenser sides, relevant for upstairs bedrooms.
-
Reliability and accessible components , useful for quick and economical maintenance .
Our AirGreen signature
-
Thermal study and custom implementation plan.
-
Finishing (capping, sealing, snow guard if necessary) and documentation provided to the customer.
-
After-sales service : maintenance reminders, seasonal advice and availability for air conditioning or heating emergencies .
What if your home is in Montreal, Longueuil, North Shore or South Shore?
We apply the same HVAC installation discipline throughout Greater Montreal : houses in Montreal, condominiums in Longueuil , residential areas on the North Shore and South Shore . Constraints vary (access, neighborhood, wind, snow), our methodology remains constant to maximize the lifespan of your heat pump .
