This project in brief: precision, clean finishes and performance on target
In a Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension home, we installed a Midea28 wall-mounted heat pump (R-454B refrigerant, extreme cold profile down to -30°C) to provide daily heating and cooling . The indoor head is positioned high on the wall, close to the ceiling, with a readable setpoint display ; a discreet technical molding route runs along the corner of the wall and ceiling to route the supply while maintaining a clean aesthetic. The condensate drain operates by gravity with a continuous slope, which eliminates the need for a pump and reduces maintenance. The result: uniform distribution , silence and energy savings adapted to the winters of Greater Montreal .
Space and its constraints: what we took into account

Installation height : 18–25 cm below the ceiling to optimize the return of hot air in heating mode and increase the blowing range.

Proximity to a door : the head is clear of the door drop to avoid turbulence and protect the shutter mechanism.

Clean path : fine capping , neat 90° angles, color coordinated with the wall for a minimalist look.

Rear wall pass-through : short refrigeration path to the outdoor condenser; the insulation is continuous to prevent summer condensation.

Accurate sizing (BTU) and series selection
At AirGreen, we size the BTU capacity according to the surface area, the envelope, the orientation and the actual occupancy rate. The Midea28 is available in 9,000, 12,000, 18,000, 24,000 and 33,000 BTU; we retain the power that avoids short cycles in summer and ensures efficient capacity maintenance in winter, guaranteeing a high HSPF and a competitive SEER . The inverter compressor finely adjusts the power and limits overconsumption during restarts.
Drilling, sealing and drainage
The drilling is carried out with a slight counter-slope towards the outside to preserve gravity drainage . We install a waterproof wall pass-through , mastics and caulking to eliminate air infiltration and thermal bridges . The condensate pipe follows a regular slope and opens onto a discharge point designed to avoid marking the facade.
Refrigeration connections and vibrations
Copper connections are flared to the correct torque and tightened to the manufacturer's tightening torque . We reduce the number of elbows to limit pressure losses. Anti-vibration pads under the outdoor condenser and careful alignment of the indoor head prevent hum and improve compressor longevity .
Vacuum packaging and quality control
We carry out a deep vacuum (controlled vacuum), open the valves in stages, then check the blowing temperatures and the delta T. A commissioning report is drawn up: electrical readings, intensities, tested instructions, device number, photos of finishes.

Dedicated power supply
The Midea28 requires a dedicated circuit breaker ; we provide a protected path to the panel, in accordance with the Code requirements. In older apartments, we optimize the cable run in molding to preserve the walls and limit invasive interventions.
Exterior finishes
Outside, the condenser is installed on brackets or a slab, depending on the facade. We leave a rear clearance for heat exchange and install a deflector if the courtyard's architecture encourages snow accumulation. The service hoods remain accessible for maintenance.
