Installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump (residential range) in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

Precise comfort in the dining room, without compromising on aesthetics

At AirGreen , we recently installed a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in a condominium in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighborhood of Montreal. The project focuses on an open-plan living area where the dining room and living room share a single space. Two decorative pendant lights frame the main wall: the indoor unit therefore had to integrate with perfect symmetry , while ensuring uniform air diffusion throughout the room.

Client background and objectives

The owner wanted:

  • Stabilize the temperature and humidity during the heat waves of July and August, without direct drafts on the dining table.

  • Benefit from additional heating between seasons to delay the start-up of the main system.

  • Keep the wall clean (stretched white paint, designer lighting), without visible cable ducts or exposed accessories.

Our recommendation: a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump from the residential inverter range , known for its reliability , quietness and precise modulation control . The brand meets the needs of urban living environments such as Montreal , Laval , Longueuil , North Shore and South Shore , where energy efficiency and sound discretion are priorities.

Installation design: precision to the millimeter

Choice of wall and installation height

The unit is placed high on the wall , under the ceiling, centered between the two suspensions. This position:

  • Allows the horizontal air jet to follow the ceiling before falling naturally, which evens out the temperature.

  • Avoids the discomfort of a direct flow on the guests.

  • Leaves wall space free for low furniture (sideboard, console) without obstructing the appliance's suction.

Refrigeration and aesthetic journey

We opted for a back-to-back through-wall : the drilling is located directly behind the mounting plate, which shortens the connections (freon and communication) and eliminates the use of internal capping. Advantages:

  • No visual impact on the inside: no chute.

  • Minimized pressure losses and optimized efficiency thanks to reduced line length .

  • Fewer connection points , therefore less risk of micro-leaks in the long term.

Externally, the connections are protected by a white UV trunking and waterproof elbows to ensure a clean appearance on the brick and easy maintenance.

Condensate management

The site offered a natural slope towards the outside: we configured a gravity drain with a slope ≥ 1% and a non-return elbow at the outlet. When the architecture does not allow it, we install high-end condensate pumps with silent blocks, but here gravity offers the most reliable and silent solution.

Power supply and compliance

  • Dedicated circuit from the panel, circuit breaker sized according to the condenser nameplate.

  • External disconnection within easy reach of technicians.

  • Grounding, shielded communication cabling, sealed passage and fire-resistant sealant when drilling.

  • Compliance with the Quebec Electrical Code and clearances around the outdoor unit.

AirGreen Methodology: Measurable Quality

  1. Simplified load study : dimensions, orientation, internal inputs (lighting, cooking), glazing and occupancy habits. This prevents us from oversizing, a source of discomfort and short cycles .

  2. Structural checks : location of uprights, suitable dowels, mounting plate perfectly level.

  3. Nitrogen brazing (if necessary) and torque-controlled flaring to ensure the integrity of the fittings.

  4. Nitrogen leak test (pressure test), then deep vacuum to ≤ 500 microns , with vacuum holding.

  5. Opening valves , superheat/subcooling control and checking blowing temperatures .

  6. Functional settings : shutter direction, automatic speeds, night mode, locking of certain functions if desired.

  7. Customer training : use of the remote control, HVAC maintenance (filter washing, frequency), savings tips.

Why Sharp for this type of urban project?

  • Inverter modulation : the device finely adjusts the power to maintain a stable temperature with minimal noise .

  • High energy efficiency (SEER/HSPF depending on the series), reducing bills and carbon footprint.

  • Air quality : removable and washable filters, easy access for maintenance.

  • Reliability : robust design, electronic protections, progressive start-up which preserves the electrical installation .

Model Note : Depending on availability and specific configuration, we offer Sharp residential line variants tailored to room volumes and four-season use. When required, we select a high-performance version to maximize applicable subsidies and cold-weather performance.

Results: immediate comfort, clean wall

Upon commissioning, the customer noted:

  • A soft and even blowing towards the dining area then the living room.

  • A noticeable reduction in humidity on muggy days.

  • An intact wall bay : the unit blends into the decor, between the two suspensions, without visible cables.

  • Very low noise levels , compatible with meals and teleworking.

Best practices for sustainable performance

  • Clean filters every 4 to 6 weeks during the usage season.

  • Maintain 1 m of clearance in front of the unit and avoid obstacles that break the airflow (massive frames, tall plants).

  • Annual maintenance by an AirGreen technician: electrical inspection, tightening of terminals, checking of probes, gentle cleaning of the exchanger, checking of the drain.

  • In winter (heating mode), turn the shutters slightly downwards to promote reverse stratification and limit the sensation of cold feet.

Grants and areas served

High-efficiency wall-mounted heat pumps may be eligible for financial assistance programs when certain performance thresholds are met. Our team assists households in Montreal , Laval , Longueuil , the North Shore , and the South Shore to verify eligibility and prepare the required documents .

What made AirGreen different on this project

  • Aesthetic integration : careful centering between the lights, invisible rear path.

  • Technical rigor : nitrogen test + deep vacuum ≤ 500 microns documented.

  • Targeted comfort : self-set orientation and speed for a draft-free dining area.

  • Support : clear explanations, user guide and HVAC maintenance schedule.
