In a modern condo in Montreal's Southwest borough, our team recently installed a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump to provide year-round comfort for its residents. The goal: to replace a less efficient heating and cooling solution with a quiet, high-performance system perfectly suited to the apartment's minimalist style.
Thanks to this installation, the owners now enjoy fresh air in the summer, stable heat in the winter, while reducing their energy consumption.
The setting: a bright and minimalist condo
The apartment is typical of recent constructions in the Southwest: light ceilings, white walls, clean lines. The interior layout therefore had to:
-
to blend discreetly into the background;
-
not to encroach on living space;
-
to provide comfortable air circulation in the main open area.
We chose a Fujitsu wall-mounted mini-split, single-zone heat pump , ideal for this type of open area.
The chosen solution: Fujitsu R-32 wall-mounted heat pump
For this project, we installed a high-efficiency Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump operating with R-32 refrigerant (A2L classification) , a more environmentally friendly and efficient generation than older R-410A systems.
Key features of the installed system:
-
power of approximately 12,000 BTU , perfectly sized for the main space;
-
efficient heating mode in winter , adapted to the temperatures of Greater Montreal;
-
silent operation to preserve the peace and quiet of the condo;
-
compatibility with smart control functions (Wi-Fi) visible on the indoor unit panel.
This type of heat pump offers an excellent compromise between performance, energy efficiency and acoustic comfort.
A discreet and neat interior installation
The photo shows the Fujitsu wall unit installed high up, near the ceiling, with its top panel open. This configuration allows us to:
-
to optimize air circulation in the room;
-
to keep the device out of the main field of vision , while still being easily accessible for maintenance;
-
to respect the necessary clearances around the heat exchanger.
Inner Head Management
-
The unit is perfectly level and fixed to a sturdy mounting plate.
-
The supply louvers ensure good air distribution in the open area, without direct drafts on the occupants.
-
The washable filters are easily accessible by lifting the top cover – they can be clearly seen in the photo – which will facilitate regular cleaning by the occupants.
Refrigerant lines and condensate drainage
Although they are not visible in the photo, behind this unit are:
-
insulated refrigeration pipes , connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor compressor;
-
the condensate drain , installed with an adequate slope to ensure reliable drainage of the water produced in air conditioning mode (or if necessary with a small pump, depending on the configuration of the condo).
The wall penetration was drilled cleanly and then carefully sealed to eliminate air leaks and thermal bridges.
Power supply and commissioning
Our technicians have:
-
verified the electrical conformity of the dedicated line;
-
carried out a complete evacuation of the refrigeration circuit ;
-
controlled the pressures and refrigerant charge according to Fujitsu specifications;
-
validated the different modes (heating, air conditioning, dehumidification, ventilation) and communication with the remote control / Wi-Fi module.
The result: a system ready to operate optimally from day one.
Four-season comfort in Montreal's climate
With this Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump, the owners of this condo in the Southwest benefit from:
-
rapid and precise cooling in summer, without a noisy window air conditioner;
-
stable heating during the shoulder seasons and a good part of the winter, reducing the use of electric baseboard heaters;
-
better humidity control , which improves air quality and the feeling of comfort;
-
significant energy savings compared to purely electrical systems.
R-32 technology also allows for very good low-temperature performance, while reducing the system's environmental footprint.
Simplified maintenance for maximum lifespan
We took the time to explain proper maintenance practices to the occupants:
-
clean the washable filters every 4 to 8 weeks during peak season;
-
keep the space in front of the unit clear;
-
visually check for any drops or abnormal noises;
-
schedule periodic professional maintenance for deep cleaning of the unit and verification of the refrigeration circuit.
With these few steps, a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump can provide reliable and economical comfort for many years.
