A residential project aimed at comfort and energy efficiency
At AirGreen , we are regularly called upon to work in single-family homes and condominiums in Greater Montreal to install reliable and durable wall-mounted heat pump systems. Recently, we completed an installation in Ville Saint-Laurent , in a residence where the owners were looking for an economical and efficient solution to ensure their comfort throughout the year. In this project, the selected model was perfectly suited to the area of the ground floor and the main living room, approximately 12,000 BTU , which met the needs of the occupants without oversizing.
Technical details and installation
Choice of location
The interior head was installed on a central wall of the living room, slightly above the frame of a decorative painting. This location was chosen to ensure even distribution of conditioned and heated air. The installation height, combined with the orientation of the shutters, promotes immediate comfort while avoiding direct drafts.
Route of the conduits
The drilling was carried out through an external wall, with white capping ensuring a clean and discreet finish. The refrigerant and electrical connections were carefully insulated, and the condensate evacuation was managed by gravity drain , avoiding the addition of a lifting pump.
External support and condenser
The outdoor compressor was mounted on sturdy wall brackets to raise it and protect it from snow accumulation in winter. Particular attention was paid to the free space around the condenser, ensuring optimal ventilation and consistent performance.
Constraints encountered
The main challenge lay in the existing wall finish: the freshly applied paint needed to be protected during drilling and sealing. Our technicians used tarps and precise cutting methods to preserve the integrity of the interior surfaces. In addition, precise alignment adjustments with the decorative moldings were required for a flawless aesthetic result.
Grants and savings
The owners were able to benefit from grant programs available in Quebec (including LogisVert and federal initiatives for energy-efficient heat pumps). Thanks to the efficiency of their unit, this installation is eligible, thus reducing the net cost of the project. The expected annual savings on the electricity bill are an additional argument in favor of this choice.
Result: four-season comfort
Within hours of installation, the home was already enjoying optimal thermal comfort . In summer, the heat pump provides efficient and quiet air conditioning. In winter, it provides stable heating, reducing reliance on electric baseboard heaters.
