Installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in a condo in Ville-Marie (Montreal)

In this bright condo in Ville-Marie, in the heart of Montreal, the owners wanted a heating and cooling solution that was efficient, discreet, and suitable for the limited space of the entrance. Our AirGreen team therefore proposed the installation of a new-generation Gree wall-mounted heat pump , seamlessly integrated above the door, for year-round comfort without compromising on aesthetics.

A typical downtown condo project

As in many downtown condo units, wall space is at a premium: doors, storage, detectors, and light fixtures leave little room for a bulky device. Here, the main challenge was to provide consistent comfort in the hallway and adjacent rooms, while respecting the building's layout constraints and regulations.

We therefore opted for a compact Gree wall-mounted fan , installed very high, just a few centimeters from the ceiling. This strategic position allows the airflow to spread above the door and then gently flow into the rest of the home, without creating a direct draft on the occupants.

A Gree wall-mounted heat pump designed for everyday comfort

The installed heat pump is a Gree wall-mounted unit of approximately 12,000 BTU , sized for an average-sized condo. Thanks to its inverter compressor technology, it automatically adjusts its output according to actual needs, providing several tangible benefits for the customer:

  • stable temperature, without roller coasters of hot and cold;

  • optimized electricity consumption;

  • significantly quieter operation than a traditional air conditioner.

The discreet digital display on the front panel, visible in the photo, allows you to check the set temperature at a glance. Fine-tuning (heating, cooling, dehumidification, fan speed, louver oscillation) is done via the remote control or, depending on the chosen configuration, via a Wi-Fi app.

Installation details: precision and aesthetic integration

The location, directly above the door, requires a high degree of precision. We first checked the wall structure and the clearances around the device to ensure:

  • good air circulation at the front and under the wall-mounted head;

  • a solid and perfectly level fixing;

  • sufficient access for filter maintenance.

The refrigerant lines and condensation drain are concealed within the partition wall to maintain a clean, minimalist look: no visible ductwork or pipes in the client's line of sight. The result is a minimalist installation, perfectly integrated with the walls and the condo's white door.

Outside, the Gree condensing unit is positioned to minimize noise and comply with condominium regulations (balcony or terrace, anti-vibration mount, clearance around the fan). The path between the two units has been optimized to reduce pressure losses and facilitate after-sales service.

Ready for Montreal winters… and heat waves

Although the photo shows the unit in cooling mode, the Gree wall-mounted heat pump is primarily a four-season solution. In heating mode, it can provide gentle and consistent warmth, even during Montreal's typical cold weather, reducing reliance on electric baseboard heaters and lowering Hydro-Québec bills .

In summer, the same unit provides efficient air conditioning, controlling not only the temperature but also the humidity. For a condo in Ville-Marie exposed to full sun, this is a major asset for comfort and air quality.

Simplified maintenance and longevity

During the commissioning, we showed the client how to:

  • Clean the washable filters regularly;

  • use the different modes correctly;

  • program the temperature economically when he is away.

This type of Gree wall-mounted heat pump, when properly installed and maintained, offers a long lifespan and stable performance. Our technicians are available for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and, if needed, refrigerant refills or electronic component checks.
