An installation designed for comfort and performance
At AirGreen , we recently completed a GREE wall-mounted heat pump installation in a residential basement in Laval , a space that is often difficult to maintain at a stable temperature, especially during Quebec winters. This project perfectly illustrates our meticulous approach, adapted to each interior environment.
Project background
The client wanted an energy-efficient HVAC solution to improve the thermal comfort of the basement while reducing their reliance on central electric heating. After a site assessment, we recommended a GREE R32 series wall-mounted heat pump , a model known for its energy efficiency and quiet operation .
The indoor unit, visible in the photo, was installed on a well-cleared central wall , optimizing air diffusion in the main room. This strategic positioning ensures even distribution of heat and air conditioning throughout the living area of the basement.
Technical details of the installation
The installation had several particularities:
-
Device type: Wall-mounted heat pump (single-zone mini-split)
-
Brand: GREE
-
Refrigerant: R-32, more environmentally friendly and efficient than R-410A
-
Operating temperature: down to -25°C, ideal for the climate of Greater Montreal
-
Estimated output: 12,000 BTU, suitable for typical residential basement air volumes
-
Modulated airflow for stable performance in both heating and cooling modes
The refrigerant cables and condensate drain were carefully concealed in discreet white capping , matching the wall color. The short and direct duct route minimizes heat loss while ensuring optimal performance of the outdoor compressor.
Clean and compliant wiring
The heat pump's power supply was integrated in accordance with CSA and RBQ standards , with a dedicated circuit breaker and proper grounding. The visible wiring on the right side of the wall, sheathed and neatly secured, illustrates our constant concern for safety and aesthetics .
Our certified technicians also checked the slope of the drainage pipe to ensure efficient gravity flow , avoiding any water stagnation or risk of humidity.
Adaptation to a complex environment
The basement, although partially partitioned, presented a challenge: the presence of an open staircase to the upper floor . To avoid energy loss and ensure constant comfort, we directed the airflow slightly towards the stair area, allowing heat to rise naturally in winter.
This configuration improves thermal circulation between floors and optimizes the overall energy efficiency of the system.
Result: tailor-made comfort all year round
Since installation, the customer benefits from:
-
Stable and consistent comfort , without cold spots
-
A significant reduction in its electricity consumption
-
A silent and efficient system , suitable for long periods of use
-
A device compatible with the Énergir and Hydro-Québec subsidy programs , thanks to its Energy Star efficiency and its operation in cold climates
