In this Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie apartment in Montreal, the owners wanted to improve the comfort of an interior bedroom, which was often too hot in the summer and difficult to heat evenly in the winter. They chose to entrust us with the installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump to enjoy perfectly controlled comfort, all year round, without taking up too much space.
Context: a room used all year round
The room is typical of Rosemont apartments: relatively low ceiling, light-colored wall, built-in wardrobe, and compact furniture (television, chest of drawers, etc.). It's a bedroom used as much as a sleeping area as a TV corner or office.
Before our intervention:
-
In summer, the heat accumulated in this room, making the nights difficult despite a fan;
-
In winter, electric wall heating creates colder areas, especially near the cupboard and the exterior wall;
-
the window could not accommodate the addition of a standard window air conditioner without loss of brightness or security.
The occupants' objective was therefore to obtain:
-
a stable and pleasant temperature day and night;
-
a silent system, compatible with sleep;
-
an aesthetic solution, well integrated into the room.
The solution: a Gree Inverter wall-mounted heat pump
We recommended the installation of a Gree Inverter wall-mounted, single-zone, 9,000 to 12,000 BTU heat pump , perfectly sized for the area of the room and adjacent spaces.
The main advantages of this Gree heat pump:
-
Inverter technology : the compressor continuously adjusts its speed to the actual demand. Result: fewer temperature fluctuations, reduced energy consumption, and gentler comfort.
-
Air conditioning and heating mode : in summer, it quickly cools the room; in winter, it provides stable heating that complements or largely replaces electric baseboard heaters.
-
Quiet operation : the design of the inner head allows for a very low noise level, ideal for a bedroom.
-
Integrated digital display : as seen in the photo, the set temperature is displayed on the front, allowing you to check the chosen setting at a glance.
Installation details in the room
The photo shows the Gree wall-mounted head installed at the very top of the wall , just a few centimeters from the ceiling. This positioning is not accidental:
-
Fresh air can naturally descend into the room in summer, which promotes even distribution ;
-
In winter, warm air is blown downwards and quickly mixes with cooler air, eliminating the sensation of "cold feet";
-
The blowing zone does not aim directly at the bed or the sitting position in front of the TV, thus avoiding unpleasant direct drafts.
Integration into the decor and interior architecture
The wall-mounted head unit is centered on the wall, directly above the TV area and near the wardrobe opening. We have:
-
used a discreet conduit to route the refrigeration lines and drain to the outside, along the top of the wall, avoiding unnecessarily cutting the studs and gypsum;
-
ensured sufficient clearance from the ceiling and side of the wardrobe to allow for good air circulation and easy maintenance;
-
chose a route that remains as discreet as possible once the wardrobe door is closed.
The result: an installation that blends into the room, with a clean look, typical of Gree wall systems.
Drainage and insulation management
Comfort also depends on good condensation management:
-
the heat pump drain is installed with a continuous slope outwards to prevent any water from accumulating in the gutter;
-
All refrigeration pipes are properly insulated to prevent heat loss in winter and the risk of condensation on the walls in summer;
-
The outward-facing holes are sealed to prevent infiltration of cold air and moisture.
These details ensure a durable installation, without traces of water or unwanted air infiltration around the device.
Comfort and performance in Montreal's climate
With this Gree wall-mounted heat pump, the bedroom in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie now benefits from:
-
efficient air conditioning even during heat waves, without window compressor noise or obstruction of the view;
-
efficient heating during periods of intense cold, which significantly reduces the use of electric baseboard heaters;
-
with a stable, programmable temperature, which promotes quality sleep and waking up in a pleasant room.
The system is also interesting from an energy point of view: Inverter technology and proper sizing make it possible to reduce annual electricity consumption, while significantly improving comfort.
The AirGreen approach: comprehensive support from start to finish
For each residential project in Montreal, we follow the same approach:
-
Analysis of the room and the dwelling : area, height, orientation, insulation, heat sources (windows, electronic devices, etc.).
-
Choosing the right equipment : BTU power, Gree range adapted to budget and expectations (noise level, control options, air filtration).
-
Planning the routing of connections between the indoor unit and the outdoor unit, taking into account aesthetics, structure and regulations.
-
Installation and commissioning : vacuuming, leak testing, testing in air conditioning and heating modes, explanation of functions to the customer.
This project in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie illustrates our philosophy well: a well-chosen, well-placed and well-installed heat pump completely changes the perception of comfort in a room – summer as well as winter.
If you live in Rosemont, Villeray, the Plateau or any other area of Greater Montreal and are considering installing a Gree wall-mounted heat pump , our team will be happy to advise you and carry out an installation that meets your expectations.
