Installation of an LG wall-mounted heat pump in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension

An energy efficiency project at the heart of a Montreal duplex

At AirGreen , each HVAC installation project is unique because it must adapt to the architecture of Montreal homes and the comfort expectations of our clients. In this duplex located in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough, we recently installed an LG wall-mounted heat pump . The goal: to ensure four-season comfort in an open-concept space, while optimizing energy consumption.

Project background

Our clients occupy a duplex-style apartment typical of the area, with a central hallway serving the various rooms. The layout required a compact indoor unit capable of efficiently distributing air throughout the ground floor. The choice of an LG wall-mounted heat pump was obvious due to its reliability, efficient heating capacity down to -25°C, and its value for money, which met the owner's needs.

Technical details of the installation

  • Device type: wall-mounted heat pump (single-zone mini-split)

  • Brand: LG

  • Capacity: 12,000 BTU – ideal for an open area of ± 40 m²

  • Technology: Inverter for fine modulation and better energy efficiency

  • Efficiency: SEER greater than 20 and HSPF around 10 (depending on the model in the range)

The wall-mounted unit was mounted high up in the main corridor, providing even air distribution. Installation required careful drilling of the exterior wall to connect the indoor unit to the compressor, installed at the rear of the building. The refrigerant circuit was protected by discreet white capping, ensuring an aesthetic finish that complemented the wall paint.

Particularities and challenges encountered

  1. Proximity to the electrical panel:
The presence of an electrical panel in the same corridor facilitated direct electrical connection, reducing wiring work and optimizing installation costs.

  2. Installation height:
The unit was mounted at a height of over two meters, allowing for optimal air circulation and improved efficiency in both heating and cooling modes.

  3. Drainage management:
Condensate drainage could be achieved by gravity, avoiding the addition of a lifting pump and simplifying future maintenance of the device.

Customer Benefits

  • Year-round comfort: air conditioning in summer and efficient heating even in Montreal's cold winters.

  • Energy savings: thanks to inverter technology and the high efficiency of the device.

  • Grant eligibility: This type of Energy Star heat pump is eligible for Quebec financial assistance programs (LogisVert, Rénoclimat).

  • Aesthetics and discretion: harmonious integration of the wall unit into the interior decor.

AirGreen expertise in HVAC installation

Our teams, specialized in wall-mounted heat pump installation in Montreal, know how to anticipate the technical constraints specific to urban housing: load-bearing walls, high ceilings, limited pipe runs, noise management, and energy optimization. In this project, the speed of execution, respect for the interior design, and eligibility for subsidies were the strong points that convinced the client to choose AirGreen.

Recommended maintenance and follow-up

To ensure the longevity of this LG wall-mounted heat pump, we recommend:

  • a complete annual cleaning (filter, coils, condensate tray),

  • a check of the refrigeration circuit by our certified technicians,

  • and regular monitoring to ensure the maintenance of energy performance and optimal comfort.

Conclusion: a reference project in Villeray

This installation perfectly illustrates the combination of a high-performance and cost-effective HVAC solution adapted to the realities of Montreal's residential buildings. With this project, occupants now benefit from optimal thermal comfort, reduced energy bills, and a sustainable system supported by AirGreen expertise.
