An HVAC installation project designed for an urban living space
At AirGreen , we recently installed a Midea wall-mounted heat pump in a modern condo located in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal . The space, typical of Montreal's urban apartments, presented several constraints: an open kitchen adjoining the living room, limited space for the refrigeration connections, and a load-bearing wall requiring precise drilling.
Our objective was clear: to offer optimal thermal comfort in summer and winter , while respecting the careful aesthetics of the condo and the already busy layout of the premises.
Why a Midea wall-mounted heat pump?
The wall-mounted heat pump was the ideal solution for this project. Compact, efficient, and discreet, it provides efficient cooling in summer and heating down to -25°C , an essential feature for Montreal's demanding climate.
The Midea range is recognized for:
-
Its reliability over time.
-
Its high energy efficiency , ensuring savings on electricity bills.
-
Its quiet operation makes it particularly suitable for small spaces such as condos.
-
Its eligibility for provincial and federal grant programs (notably LogisVert and Greener Homes), when the efficiency criteria are met.
Key steps of installation
Site analysis and preparation
Before any intervention, our team carried out a detailed technical assessment . In this Plateau condo, the choice of the location of the interior head was crucial: it was necessary to ensure uniform diffusion of air in the living room and kitchen without disturbing the wall aesthetic, already decorated with a decorative painting.
Drilling and passage of connections
The drilling of the load-bearing wall was carried out with millimetric precision to allow the passage of refrigeration pipes, the electrical cable and the condensate drain . We chose a direct and short passage, thus limiting energy losses and facilitating future maintenance.
Inner Head Pose
The Midea wall-mounted fan was mounted high above a low cabinet, ensuring optimal air circulation. Its sleek design blends perfectly with the condo's modern decor.
Condensate drain management
The installation was designed with gravity drainage , thus avoiding the addition of a condensate pump. This reduces noise, maintenance costs and the risk of breakdown.
Electrical connection
The unit was connected directly to the condo's electrical panel, in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code. A dedicated circuit breaker was installed to ensure the system's safety and reliability.
Constraints encountered and solutions provided
-
Limited space : The proximity of the kitchen and furniture required a compact installation. We optimized the routing of connections behind an aesthetically pleasing, discreet cover that coordinated with the furniture.
-
Restricted access for installation : the use of a lightweight and maneuverable stepladder made it possible to work efficiently in a confined space without damaging the floor or furniture.
-
Potential noise : To preserve the tranquility of the condo, we have fitted the fixings with anti-vibration pads.
Benefits for the customer
The installation of this Midea wall-mounted heat pump now offers:
-
Immediate and stable comfort in all seasons.
-
Significant energy savings , thanks to high efficiency (SEER and HSPF compliant with Energy Star standards).
-
A discreet and aesthetic solution , perfectly suited to an urban condo.
-
Peace of mind , with the full warranty offered by AirGreen and Midea.
