In this project, our AirGreen team worked in an apartment in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , in the heart of Montreal, to replace an aging air conditioning system with a new-generationSharp wall-mounted heat pump . The client's goal was to enjoy year-round comfort in a relatively small room, without cluttering the space or compromising the aesthetics of the apartment.
A typical Montreal apartment… with very real constraints
The room to be air-conditioned is a bedroom/office with:
-
a sash window overlooking a red brick facade, typical of Montreal plexes;
-
relatively high walls , ideal for good air stratification;
-
a limited space between the ceiling and the top of the window frame.
We therefore chose a configuration that respects these constraints while optimizing airflow: a wall unit installed very high, just above the window , centered in the room. This position allows:
-
to project fresh or warm air over the entire volume of the room;
-
to minimize the risk of direct drafts on the occupants;
-
to integrate the device discreetly, following the line of the ceiling.
Choosing the Sharp wall-mounted heat pump
To meet the client's needs, we recommended a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump from the residential range, a system renowned for:
-
its reliability in heating and air conditioning in the Quebec climate;
-
Its quiet operation makes it ideal for a bedroom or office;
-
Its simple and clean design blends easily into any decor.
We opted for a capacity suitable for a medium-sized room, allowing:
-
rapid cooling in summer , even during episodes of humid heat;
-
efficient heating in spring and autumn , in support of the main system of the residence;
-
optimized electricity consumption , thanks to inversion technology.
Interior installation details
The photo clearly shows the indoor unit:
-
installed very close to the ceiling , which promotes uniform air diffusion;
-
positioned above the window frame , to utilize an area of the wall that would otherwise be unused;
-
aligned with the existing moldings, for a clean and symmetrical result.
Our technicians have:
-
Checked the wall's solidity and the presence of adequate studs for anchoring.
-
Drilled through the wall via the available space above the window, in order to pass:
-
refrigerant connections,
-
the condensate drain,
-
the communication cable.
-
-
The ducts were covered and hidden as best as possible to preserve the interior aesthetics.
-
Adjusted the airflow and sweep of the heat pump to avoid direct blowing onto the client's desk or bed.
The result: a discreet, silent and efficient installation that does not overload a room already limited in wall space.
Details of the exterior installation (brick facade)
Although it does not appear in the photo, the exterior part of the system was installed in a way that respects the realities of the buildings in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie:
-
Sharp condenser fixed to a brick facade or on an elevated support, to protect it from snow accumulation;
-
clearances respected to ensure good air circulation and facilitate maintenance;
-
Refrigerant lines and drain insulated and protected , with a clean downpipe along the masonry.
We also validated the proximity of the electrical panel , the capacity of the dedicated circuit and the conformity of the protection (circuit breaker and disconnect box) according to the standards in force.
Four-season comfort and energy efficiency
Thanks to this Sharp wall-mounted heat pump, the customer now benefits from:
-
rapid and uniform cooling during heat waves;
-
with a dehumidification mode that is very useful on hot and sticky days;
-
of an economical auxiliary heater during the intermediate seasons, which allows for a reduction in the use of the main heating system;
-
with a silent mode , perfect for sleeping or working remotely.
From an energy perspective, using a high-efficiency heat pump allows for:
-
to reduce overall electricity consumption , especially in heating mode;
-
to take advantage, depending on the circumstances and available programs, of potential subsidies for the energy transition (subject to the eligibility of the building and the chosen system).
A meticulously designed installation, reflecting AirGreen's image.
At AirGreen, we place great importance on:

-
show how to clean the filters regularly;
-
