In a typical Plateau-Mont-Royal apartment, our team installed a new generationSharp wall-mounted heat pump . The client wanted to modernize their year-round comfort without cluttering the space, while benefiting from a discreet and energy-efficient system adapted to Montreal's climate.
We recommended a Sharp TU wall-mounted heat pump, 12,000 BTU, R-32 refrigerant (A2L) , ideal for medium-sized rooms very common on the Plateau (double living rooms, open living/dining room areas).
A project in a typical Plateau-Mont-Royal apartment
The apartment is located in a renovated period building, with ceiling moldings and white walls, like many seen on the Plateau. The main constraints were:
-
preserve the understated aesthetic of the walls;
-
avoid obstructing the opening of doors and traffic flow;
-
Make the most of the ceiling height to ensure good air distribution.
We therefore installed the Sharp wall-mounted unit high up, in a corner, just below the molding. This positioning allows the air to be diffused along the ceiling and then naturally descended back into the room for even comfort.
Machine type: a Sharp TU wall-mounted heat pump
The chosen solution is a Sharp TU wall-mounted heat pump, 12,000 BTU , using the following technology:
-
Inverter : the compressor continuously adjusts its power according to demand, which reduces on/off cycles and improves efficiency;
-
R-32 refrigerant classified A2L : more efficient and with a lower environmental impact than older refrigerants, with charges calculated according to safety standards;
-
Air conditioning, heating, dehumidification and ventilation modes , controllable by remote control.
This model is perfectly sized to cover summer air conditioning needs and supplementary (or main) heating needs for a large part of the year, while remaining quiet – a crucial point in the terraced buildings of Plateau-Mont-Royal.
A neat and discreet interior installation
In the photo, you can clearly see:
-
the rounded design of the Sharp wall-mounted head,
-
the position in a corner of the room,
-
and the horizontal air supply grille ready to direct air into the living area.
Our teams paid particular attention to several technical elements:
-
Respect for clearances
-
Sufficient space above the unit, below the ceiling molding, to allow air to return properly to the exchanger.
-
Lateral clearance to allow the front panel to be opened and the filters to be accessed.
-
-
Passage of refrigeration lines
-
Clean drilling through the wall behind the unit to route refrigerant lines, communication cable, and condensate drain.
-
Careful sealing to prevent air or moisture infiltration.
-
-
Mechanical fastening
-
Sharp wall mount securely anchored in the structure to ensure a durable, vibration-free hold.
-
-
Accessibility of the nameplate
-
The Sharp identification plate remains visible on the side of the unit, which facilitates any future intervention (service, warranty, R-32 charge verification, etc.).
-
The result: a visually discreet installation, perfectly integrated into the interior architecture, with no visible cables or intrusive sheathing.
Comfort and performance in all seasons
The Sharp TU wall-mounted heat pump offers the customer:
-
Effective air conditioning in summer : cool air is blown upwards and then distributed throughout the room, without direct drafts on the occupants.
-
Efficient heating in spring, autumn and a good part of winter : the machine recovers outside heat even in cold weather and transfers it inside, which reduces the use of electric baseboard heaters.
-
Better humidity management thanks to the dehumidification mode, very useful on hot and humid days.
The silent mode is particularly appreciated in this project: on the Plateau-Mont-Royal, where homes are often close together and teleworking is common, a discreet device is a major asset for quality of life.
Energy efficiency and savings
Thanks to Sharp Inverter technology and R-32 refrigerant , this installation allows:
-
reduced electricity consumption for the same level of comfort;
-
a better coefficient of performance (COP) in heating;
-
an attractive return on investment time , especially when the heat pump takes care of a large part of the heating during the intermediate seasons.
We took the time to explain to the client how:
-
program realistic temperature settings ,
-
Use the Auto, Heat, and Cool modes depending on the season.
-
and activate optimization functions (night mode, timer, etc.) to maximize energy savings.
AirGreen maintenance, warranty and service
As with all our Sharp wall-mounted heat pump installations in Greater Montreal , we have:
-
handed over the manufacturer's warranty documents ;
-
explained the procedure for cleaning the filters (simply by opening the front panel);
-
Regular preventative maintenance is recommended: inspection of the indoor unit, checking of condensates, control of the outdoor unit, and cleaning of the heat exchanger.
Our technicians remain available for:
-
periodic maintenance visits ;
-
diagnostics in case of decreased performance;
-
advice on optimal use during periods of extreme cold.
