Gree wall-mounted heat pump installation in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

In Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, more and more homeowners want to improve their comfort without sacrificing the aesthetics of their homes. In this project, our AirGreen team installed a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in a typical single-family home in the area, with vinyl siding and an exposed foundation. The client's goal: a reliable system to cool the house in the summer, heat efficiently in the spring and fall, and reduce reliance on electric baseboard heaters.

The customer's need: more comfort, less consumption

Before our intervention, the residence was equipped with conventional electric heating, without central air conditioning. Result:

  • Rooms that become stifling during Montreal's heat waves.

  • Uneven heat distribution between floors.

  • A relatively high electricity bill during the heating season.

The client contacted us to find a compact, quiet and energy-efficient solution, suitable for a Rosemont house of approximately 1,000 sq ft per floor, with a small backyard and limited openings on the facades.

The solution: a high-efficiency Gree wall-mounted heat pump

After analyzing the thermal load and the configuration of the house, we recommended a Gree wall-mounted, single-zone heat pump of approximately 12,000 BTU, perfectly sized to cover the main living area (living room, dining room and kitchen).

Why Gree for this project in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie?

  • Inverter compressor technology to modulate power and avoid on/off cycles.

  • Excellent balance between performance, reliability and value for money.

  • Quiet operation both indoors and outdoors, ideal in a dense residential area.

  • Efficient heating capacity even in cold weather, which helps to reduce the load on electric baseboard heaters for a good part of the winter.

This configuration offers the customer four-season comfort without major work on the existing structure.

A clean and well-thought-out outdoor installation

The photo clearly shows the Gree outdoor unit mounted on sturdy wall brackets, anchored to the foundation just above the exposed concrete wall. We paid particular attention to the following elements:

  • Height from the ground : the device is clear of snow and slush, which preserves winter performance and facilitates maintenance.

  • Galvanized wall brackets : sized for the weight of the heat pump, with fixing in concrete for maximum stability and vibration reduction.

  • Clearance around the propeller : the unit is installed at a good distance from the vinyl covering to ensure optimal airflow and limit reflected noise.

  • Protected refrigeration lines and wiring : The refrigeration lines and power supply are grouped together in a white pipe cover that blends into the house's cladding. This protects the pipes from UV rays, impacts, and frost.

  • Drain management : the condensation drain is insulated and securely fixed, preventing drips on the walls and the risk of freezing in winter.

The unit's positioning was chosen to remain discreet from the street, while remaining easily accessible for maintenance and future inspections.

Discreet interior integration into the main living area

Inside, the Gree wall-mounted head unit was installed on a central wall in the living area, clear enough to allow air to circulate freely to the living and dining rooms. We have:

  • Drilled through the wall at the back of the indoor unit to reduce the length of the connections and pressure losses.

  • A precise tilt was used to ensure proper drainage of condensation.

  • Optimized the installation height so that the airflow is not directed directly at the occupants, but sweeps across the volume of the room.

The result is a discreet, silent device that blends into the background while providing an immediately noticeable increase in comfort.

Winter performance and energy savings

The Gree wall-mounted heat pump installed in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie now allows the customer to:

  • Cooling down in summer without multiplying window air conditioners.

  • Heat efficiently in autumn, spring and on many winter days, thanks to the high-performance low-temperature heating mode.

  • Reduce your overall electricity consumption: a modern heat pump provides several kilowatts of heat for every kilowatt consumed, which is significantly more advantageous than pure electric heating.

In practice, the customer now primarily uses the heat pump for heating until the temperature drops very low, at which point the baseboard heaters take over intermittently. This strategy helps to smooth out the Hydro-Québec bill while increasing comfort.

A compliant and safe installation

As with all our projects, we have complied with the standards and best practices of the HVAC industry in Quebec:

  • Connection by a qualified electrician on a dedicated circuit with a suitable circuit breaker.

  • Rigorous vacuuming of refrigeration lines before opening the valves.

  • Leak testing and performance testing in cold and hot modes.

  • Detailed explanation to the customer on the use of the modes, the programming of the remote control and basic maintenance (cleaning of the filters, clearance around the outdoor unit, etc.).

The customer thus has a system installed according to best practices, guaranteed by AirGreen and supported by our team's after-sales service.
