A triple installation designed for energy efficiency and comfort in a Montreal home
At AirGreen , we recently completed the installation of three Sharp ZU1 wall-mounted heat pumps in a typical Montreal residence in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district. This project aimed to provide a complete heating and cooling solution for several zones of the house, while ensuring optimal performance at very low temperatures .
A brick residential building in the heart of Ahuntsic
The two-story house featured a classic red brick facade , typical of the area. This type of structure requires special attention for the passage of refrigerant lines and the discreet integration of exterior ducts. We opted for vertical brown capping , perfectly aligned with the color of the wall, ensuring both aesthetics and mechanical protection of the ducts.
Each Sharp outdoor unit has been mounted on reinforced wall brackets approximately 30 cm from the ground, ensuring protection against snow and moisture while facilitating maintenance.
Three zones, three units, one goal: comfort
The three installed Sharp ZU1 units are each connected to a separate indoor head, allowing independent temperature regulation in three areas of the house: the living room, the upstairs bedrooms and the office.
This multi-zone system ensures a uniform thermal balance, while reducing energy consumption thanks to inverter technology and environmentally friendly R-32 refrigerant .
Technical details of the installation
-
Brand: Sharp
-
Model: ZU1 Series (R-32 Inverter)
-
Type: Wall-mounted heat pump
-
Capacities: 12,000 to 18,000 BTU (depending on the room)
-
Support: Galvanized wall brackets
-
Capping: Brown, vertical, discreetly integrated into the facade
-
Drainage: Gravity, directed towards the outside of the back wall
-
Working height: Approximately 6 meters for the passage of the conduits on the second floor
-
Special feature: Aesthetic alignment and complete protection of the wiring
The insulated refrigerant pipes were carefully routed along the wall, protected by UV-resistant conduits.
Particular attention was paid to the wall junction at the windows , ensuring perfect sealing and avoiding any air infiltration.
Winter comfort guaranteed down to -25°C
Sharp ZU1 heat pumps are known for their stable performance in extreme cold , an essential criterion for Montreal winters. Thanks to their high-efficiency inverter compressor, they maintain constant performance even when the temperature drops below -25°C.
This installation now allows the family to considerably reduce its heating costs , while enjoying optimal comfort all year round .
A clean and sustainable installation by AirGreen
Our technicians paid particular attention to the symmetry and cleanliness of the assembly . All the outdoor units are perfectly aligned, creating a neat and professional visual effect.
The vertical capping passage, rising to the second window, illustrates the precision and planning required for this type of multi-level project .
Every step—from fixing the brackets to pressurizing the circuit—was carried out in compliance with CSA and RBQ standards , ensuring maximum safety and reliability .
Subsidies and energy profitability
Sharp ZU1 models are eligible for Quebec's grant programs for high-efficiency heat pumps. This project allows the owner to benefit from advantageous credits , while significantly reducing their annual electricity consumption.
Conclusion
This installation of three Sharp ZU1 heat pumps in Ahuntsic-Cartierville perfectly demonstrates AirGreen's ability to offer tailor-made HVAC solutions , adapted to the local architecture and climatic requirements of Greater Montreal.
Through rigorous work, detailed planning and quality equipment, we ensure each customer lasting, energy-efficient and aesthetic comfort .
