“I remember that job like it was yesterday,” Marc-Antoine begins. “It was a heritage-classified triplex, right in the heart of Old Montréal. We weren’t allowed to drill into the stone walls, and visible ducts were completely off-limits.”
The challenge: installing a Mitsubishi Zuba 24,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump, capable of heating and cooling all three floors, without compromising the building’s historic architecture. The solution? The AirGreen team used micro-ducts hidden behind the original moldings, and installed the outdoor unit discreetly in the back courtyard, mounted on a soundproof wall bracket.
Meticulous Coordination
The work was spread over three days in collaboration with a heritage architect. “Every detail mattered—the location of every hole, the color of the duct covers, the placement of the wall units. The client wanted all the comfort, but none of the tech to be seen. And we pulled it off,” adds Marc-Antoine, proud of this high-end residential air conditioning masterpiece.
When a Log Cabin Turns Into a Thermal Puzzle
Another standout project: a log cabin in Saint-Jérôme. “The owner wanted a centralized air conditioning system… but without visible ducts, and no alterations to the exposed wood beams.”
The team proposed a Bosch BOVA 3-ton central heat pump, using flexible ducts routed through specially created wall cavities. The result: complete comfort, completely invisible.
Managing Wood and Humidity
“Wood reacts to humidity, so we had to fine-tune the system’s dehumidification to avoid expansion.” Thanks to connected humidity sensors, temperature and humidity levels are now monitored in real time through a mobile app.
An Installation Inside a Warehouse… While It Remained Fully Operational
“Another wild one? An HVAC installation inside a pharmaceutical distribution warehouse in Laval, with temperature-controlled zones. We weren’t allowed to interrupt operations or generate too much dust.”
AirGreen scheduled the work at night, in two phases: first, the installation of an industrial ventilation system with a Zehnder air exchanger, then the implementation of a Lennox XP21 central heat pump, connected to a network of airtight ducts.
