Cleaning a MultiZone wall-mounted heat pump in a workshop in Saint-Laurent

A complete refurbishment before reinstallation

At our Saint-Laurent workshop, a MultiZone outdoor heat pump unit recently arrived for a thorough cleaning before being put back into service. This type of workshop intervention allows our technicians to work in a controlled environment, ideal for the complete disassembly, internal decontamination, and mechanical verification of an HVAC system before reinstallation.

This unit, used for several years in a residential installation, had a heavy accumulation of dust, pollen, and grease deposits on its coils. These impurities, invisible to the naked eye from a distance, significantly reduce energy efficiency and the compressor's lifespan.

Initial diagnosis: obstructed fins and oily deposits on the coils

Upon arrival at our workshop, the heat pump was placed on a technical trolley allowing for safe rotation and access from all sides. Our technicians observed:

  • a thick layer of dust trapped in the fins,

  • oily residues due to prolonged contact with outside air,

  • and some traces of light corrosion on the metal grid.

These deposits, in addition to blocking airflow, force the system to work harder to maintain the desired temperature , resulting in increased energy consumption and premature wear of the fan motor .

AirGreen cleaning steps: rigor and technical precision

1. Disassembly and complete inspection

The outer casing, protective grilles, and wall brackets were removed. Each component was cleaned separately to ensure a complete system restoration. Screws, flanges, and fittings were checked to guarantee a secure and vibration-free reinstallation .

2. Application of an environmentally friendly degreaser

We applied a biodegradable cleaner specially formulated for aluminum coils. This product works deep down without damaging the metal or compromising the corrosion protection. It dissolves the greasy and dusty deposits that accumulate over the seasons.

3. Gentle pressure rinse

The unit was then rinsed with clean water using a low-pressure jet , avoiding any risk of fin deformation. This step removes chemical residues and restores the coil's heat exchange capacity.

4. Drying and final inspection

Once the rinsing was complete, the heat pump was dried with compressed air to remove any residual moisture from the internal areas. Our technicians then performed a final inspection to ensure the fan, connections, and casing were in perfect condition.

5. Preparation for resettlement

The final step involves reassembling the unit , installing new wall brackets, and preparing it for future installation. Everything is then labeled, mechanically tested, and ready for delivery to the customer for final installation.

Results and benefits for the client

Thanks to this thorough cleaning, the MultiZone heat pump is restored to:

  • optimal energy efficiency ,

  • improved heat exchange capacity ,

  • quieter operation ,

  • and an extended lifespan .

This type of workshop cleaning represents a particularly profitable preventative investment . It helps avoid unexpected breakdowns, maintains consistent comfort, and reduces energy costs in the long term.
