Cleaning a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Saint-Bruno

A meticulous intervention in the rain to restore the outdoor unit to full working order.

Even rainy days don't slow down our team at AirGreen . Recently, we were called to Saint-Bruno , on Montreal's South Shore , for a complete cleaning of a Sharp ECO Inverter wall-mounted heat pump equipped with Plasmacluster Ion technology. This cutting-edge technology, designed to purify the air, can only function effectively if the unit is perfectly clean and clear.

Initial observation: dirt, humidity and beginning of fin fouling

The outdoor unit, exposed to the elements and ground debris, exhibited:

  • Visible traces of dust and wet debris on the fins.

  • Stagnant water droplets due to insufficient drainage.

  • A slightly dirty grille , reducing airflow.

  • A fan displaying a fine deposit of plant debris from the neighboring garden.

These conditions, typical after several months of continuous use, reduced compressor performance and increased power consumption.

The process of our professional cleaning

Step 1 – Securing the installation

We first disconnected the heat pump's power supply to ensure safety during cleaning. A quick inspection of the wiring and mounting confirmed that the installation remained sound and compliant.

Step 2 – Cleaning the fins and the fan

Using our low-pressure cleaner and a biodegradable detergent designed for HVAC systems , we have:

  • Gently clean the condenser fins to remove accumulated dust.

  • Removed the residue from the fan grille , allowing for better air circulation.

  • Disinfected the surface of the device with an environmentally friendly antimicrobial product.

Step 3 – Rinse and protect

A thorough rinse with clean water removed all product residue. We then applied a water-repellent protective coating to facilitate water runoff and limit dirt adhesion during future rains.

Step 4 – Drainage check and performance tests

The condensation drain was checked and flushed to prevent water accumulation. Once the unit was dry, we restarted the system and measured:

  • The blowing temperature ,

  • The noise level of the fan ,

  • And the electricity consumption under steady-state conditions .

The results confirmed a marked improvement in energy efficiency and a reduction in noise.

Immediate results and benefits

After the procedure:

  • The unit operated more quietly and efficiently .

  • The customer noticed a cooler and more stable airflow inside.

  • Plasmacluster technology finally regained its full effectiveness in purifying ambient air.

This type of thorough cleaning helps extend the life of the heat pump , while reducing the risk of costly breakdowns.
