What types of homes are considered eligible under this program?

Understanding the types of housing eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program

At AirGreen, we know how important it is for our customers to take full advantage of available grants when installing or upgrading their HVAC system. Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program , aimed at residential households across Quebec, offers significant financial assistance to encourage energy efficiency. However, before taking the plunge, it's essential to understand which types of homes are eligible for this grant.

Why is housing type eligibility crucial?

When planning the installation of a central heat pump , a wall-mounted air conditioner , or any other eligible HVAC equipment, you must ensure that your home meets the criteria defined by Hydro-Québec. An application submitted for an ineligible home will automatically result in a grant refusal, even if the equipment is compliant.

Eligible residence: what Hydro-Québec says

Here are the types of housing recognized as eligible under the LogisVert – Efficient Housing program :

Single-family homes

  • Isolated house

  • Semi-detached house

  • Row house

  • Mobile home

  • Chalet habitable year-round (four seasons)

These are the most common types of homes for heat pump installation projects that we carry out in Montreal, Laval and Longueuil , as well as on the North Shore and the South Shore . AirGreen regularly works in these residential environments, where the configuration of the property allows for optimal installation of wall-mounted or central units .

Condominiums

Condos are also eligible, but only for measurements taken inside the owner's unit. Common areas of a condominium building are not eligible for the LogisVert program, although they may be covered by another program: Hydro-Québec's Efficient Solutions .

Multiplex and residential buildings

  • Multiplex (2 to 5 dwellings)

  • Residential buildings with 6 to 19 dwellings

  • Apartments in a building of 20 or more dwellings , provided that the dwelling has its own electricity meter , and that the work is carried out inside the dwelling by the owner .

This is good news for owners of income properties or building managers , as it is possible to improve the energy performance of several dwellings and obtain financial assistance for each eligible unit , as long as the work is carried out in accordance with the program requirements.

General conditions to be respected

Location

The home must be located in Quebec , without exception.

Property condition

  • The dwelling must be completed (not under construction).

  • It must be habitable year-round (permanent residence).

  • It must be supplied with electricity by:

    • the Hydro-Québec network,

    • an autonomous network,

    • or a municipal or cooperative network.

This means that even homes in remote areas, as long as they are connected to a recognized electrical system, may be eligible for the LogisVert subsidy , subject to certain additional conditions specific to autonomous networks.

To avoid: frequent inadmissible cases

At AirGreen, we have often seen applications rejected for the following reasons:

  • Properties under construction : you must wait until the work is completed.

  • Non-insulated seasonal accommodation : even chalets must be habitable year-round.

  • Work carried out in common areas of co-ownerships : this is not covered by LogisVert.

  • Lack of proof of ownership or non-compliant invoice (name, address, RBQ number missing).

  • Installation carried out outside Quebec : the equipment must be purchased and installed in Quebec.

Concrete examples from our field experience

Laval – Semi-detached house with Gree Extreme 18,000 BTU heat pump

We recently installed a Gree Extreme 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump in a semi-detached house in Laval , which was fully eligible for the program. By meeting all the requirements, our client received a LogisVert grant of $1,704 . The home was powered by Hydro-Québec, habitable year-round, and the installation was carried out by our certified technicians (RBQ, GST/QST, etc.).

Montreal – Downtown condo with Fujitsu wall unit

In a downtown Montreal condo , we installed a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump for an owner-occupant. The work was carried out exclusively inside the unit. Since the condo has its own meter, and all documents were in order, the grant was approved immediately.

Important information for tenants

Renters may also be eligible for certain devices such as:

  • Induction cooker

  • Heat pump dryer

This allows them to benefit from a subsidy of $250 per device , provided that their name appears on the invoice , that the device was purchased in Quebec , and that it is installed in their eligible home .

Subsidy bonus: the bonus for multiple measures

Hydro-Québec also offers a 5% bonus on the total amount if several eligible measures are carried out at the same time in the same home . For example, a homeowner who installs a heat pump and an induction cooktop can group the requests in the same file to receive this additional bonus .

Conclusion: an opportunity not to be missed

As HVAC experts serving the entire greater Montreal area, at AirGreen, we support our clients in analyzing eligibility , choosing equipment, ensuring document compliance, and even submitting files to the LogisVert program . We ensure that each installation carried out in homes, condos, or rental buildings meets the strictest standards , both technically and administratively.
