Installation of a Midea wall-mounted heat pump in a condo in Ville-Marie

An elegant and discreet installation for four-season comfort

At AirGreen , we know that a condo in downtown Montreal imposes special constraints when it comes to installing an efficient HVAC system. In this project in Ville-Marie , we installed a Midea wall-mounted heat pump , tuned to provide optimal comfort in all seasons, while respecting space limitations and co-ownership requirements.

Choosing the Midea wall-mounted heat pump

The Midea wall-mounted heat pump is a smart choice for Montreal condos thanks to its compact size, quiet operation , and ability to maintain efficient performance even at low outdoor temperatures. The unit selected for this client is sized at approximately 12,000 BTUs , enough to efficiently cover the condo's main living space.

  • Energy efficiency : Energy Star certified, with SEER and HSPF values suitable for harsh winters.

  • Year-round comfort : efficient air conditioning in summer, stable heating down to -25°C.

  • Discreet design : a modern indoor unit with minimalist LED display, harmoniously integrated into the decor.

Challenges of moving into a condo

Installing a wall-mounted heat pump in a condo is never a trivial matter. The Ville-Marie context presented us with several specific challenges:

  • Limited working height : the indoor unit was installed at the top of the wall, requiring millimeter precision to maintain an adequate distance from the ceiling.

  • Restricted access : The condo's technical space requires the refrigerant piping and electrical wiring to be routed compactly, minimizing drilling.

  • Aesthetics : the passage of the conduits has been carefully covered in order to preserve a discreet finish, in harmony with the interior.

Thanks to our experience, we were able to route the refrigeration connections to the outside without affecting the structure and while respecting the co-ownership rules.

Installation process by our AirGreen team

Our RBQ certified technicians carried out the installation following a rigorous process:

  1. Site assessment and validation of co-ownership constraints.

  2. Precise drilling of the exterior wall to route the refrigeration lines.

  3. Installation of the Midea indoor unit , perfectly leveled.

  4. Installation of the external compressor on anti-vibration supports suitable for the balcony.

  5. Leak testing and vacuuming of ducts to ensure performance.

  6. Start-up and calibration of the device at 24°C, as requested by the customer.

Results and customer satisfaction

The customer now enjoys stable thermal comfort in both summer and winter. The Midea unit operates with minimal noise , perfect for an open living space. In addition, this installation makes the customer eligible for certain provincial grants due to the heat pump's high energy efficiency.
