Installation of a Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump in Terrebonne
Discover how the Sharp ZU1 transforms a Terrebonne home with silent operation and advanced air purification – a perfect blend of comfort and technology!

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
A Harmonious Blend of Comfort and Innovation
Exceeding Expectations with the Sharp ZU1
At AirGreen, we're not just about installing HVAC systems; we're about enhancing lifestyles with state-of-the-art technology and sustainable solutions. Our recent installation in Terrebonne perfectly exemplifies this ethos, featuring the Sharp ZU1, an 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump renowned for its efficiency and quiet operation.
Customer-Centric Installation Approach
Nestled in the residential heart of Terrebonne, this project was driven by our client's desire for a system that could effectively manage the temperature of their second floor, which had been uncomfortably hot during the summers. The challenge was to install a powerful unit like the 18,000 BTU Sharp ZU1 without disrupting the tranquility of the home environment, especially at night.
Strategic Placement for Optimal Comfort
Our expert team at AirGreen carefully selected the installation site within the home to maximize comfort and efficiency. The unit was placed to ensure even distribution of air, making the entire second floor a haven of comfort year-round, regardless of the external temperatures.

Technical Superiority of the Sharp ZU1
The Sharp ZU1 heat pump stands out with its impressive features:
- Energy Efficiency: With a SEER rating of 24.0, the ZU1 is designed to optimize energy use, significantly lowering electricity bills while being eco-friendly.
- Whisper-Quiet Operation: The indoor unit operates at a mere 25 dB, quieter than a whispered conversation, ensuring undisturbed sleep and daily activities.
- Advanced Air Purification: Equipped with Plasmacluster technology, the ZU1 goes beyond standard filtration, actively neutralizing airborne bacteria and allergens, providing a healthier living environment.
- Innovative R-32 Freon: Ahead of its time, the ZU1 uses R-32 freon, set to become the standard in Canada by 2025 due to its lower environmental impact.
Aesthetic and Practical Installation
Understanding the importance of aesthetics in home design, our installation ensured that all pipes and electrical wiring were neatly concealed behind the unit, maintaining the interior décor. The clean, unobtrusive setup not only complements the home’s aesthetic but also highlights the minimalist design of the Sharp ZU1.
Customer Satisfaction: A Testament to Quality
The feedback from our Terrebonne client was overwhelmingly positive, praising the silent operation and the perfect temperature control achieved by the Sharp ZU1. The generous provincial grant under the LogisVert Program by Hydro-Québec, which recognized the ZU1 as an exceptionally energy-efficient model, was also a significant satisfaction point.

How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

Data read live from the airgreen.ca page of each size (NEEP / AHRI certified performance). When the title names the installed size, it is highlighted; otherwise the whole range is shown. The aid shown is today’s, using Hydro-Québec’s rule ($120 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C); amounts quoted in the article date from its publication. Only Hydro-Québec confirms the assistance granted.
And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Baseboards and electric furnaces turn 1 kWh of electricity into 1 kWh of heat. A heat pump delivers more: that is its COP. At Hydro-Québec’s rate D (11.142¢/kWh above 40 kWh a day, since 1 April 2026):
Hydro-Québec: a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months.
Estimate per kWh of heat, at the chosen temperature, using the certified COP from the product page. Taxes, access charge and backup heat not included.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
