Grant for a condensing combo system (program ended)

Update, October 27, 2026: Énergir no longer offers this grant to homeowners. The combo system no longer appears among Énergir’s residential grants. The high-efficiency combo system is still subsidized ($850 per system installed), but only for builders, in new construction: houses and condo buildings with decentralized heating and hot water. For an existing home heated with natural gas by a central system, Énergir now offers the dual-energy grant: up to $7,300 for a forced-air house or condo and up to $9,100 for a duplex or triplex, as well as up to $100 for an ENERGY STAR® Wi-Fi smart thermostat. All the details: our Énergir dual-energy grants page. The text below describes the former program.

Former grant for a condensing combo system:

The combo system is a mixed system that provides you with heat in all the rooms of your home as well as hot water to help you meet your comfort needs. The term combo is used when the water heater is combined with a fan coil for heating the air. This installation allows you to save energy, as well as gain space in your home.

This grant was for “hot air” combo systems using an ENERGY STAR® qualified condensing tankless water heater. The condensing tankless water heater heats water on demand, so the unit does not have to store water and keep it constantly hot, thus saving money for you.

Énergir offered a $150 grant for a condensing combo system. Click here to view the list of ENERGY STAR® devices that were eligible for this program (Valid as of October 1, 2022).

Subsidy for a combo system with very high energy efficiency

This grant was for “warm air” combo systems using a condensing tankless water heater and an eligible fan coil unit with superior energy efficiency and certified by the CSA P.9 standard.

Énergir offered homeowners an $850 grant for a very high efficiency ENERGY STAR® certified combo system.
