Ville-Marie: Get a permit to install a heat pump or air conditioning unit
Important Information for Installing Heat Pumps and Air Conditioning Units in the Ville-Marie Borough
Dear Ville-Marie residents,
At AirGreen, we take pride in serving you and providing top-quality heating and air conditioning solutions. Before moving forward with the installation of your equipment, it's crucial to be aware of the rules and regulations in place in your borough. Here's a detailed summary of what you need to know:
No Permit Required: Good news! You don't need a permit to install a heat pump or an air conditioning unit, whether it's permanent or removable.
- Prohibited Locations: It's not allowed to install your unit in the front yard or on a balcony facing the front of your building.
- Permitted Locations: For other yards and balconies located on the side or at the back of the building, ensure that the unit is placed at a minimum distance of 3 meters from your property boundaries.
Removable Air Conditioning Units: These units can be installed on the front of a building without the need for a permit.
- If you're considering installing a heat pump or a permanent air conditioning unit on the roof, a permit is required.
- Once the permit is granted, you have 12 months to commence the work.
Fees for Permit Application Review:
- $9.80 per $1,000 of work.
- A minimum of $157 for a residential building.
- $462 for other types of buildings.
Your Responsibility: While we're always by your side to guide and assist you, it's your responsibility to ensure all rules are adhered to and to obtain agreement from your neighbors if necessary. Unless otherwise stated in our contract, securing the necessary permits remains your responsibility. However, rest assured that we're here to support you every step of the way.
Thank you for your trust, and we look forward to serving you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Your comfort is our top priority.
