In winter, the fresh incoming air is tempered by the heat transferred from the outgoing air, saving on energy costs. In summer, if the house is equipped with an air cooling system, the incoming air is pre-cooled. The SHR 150 is equipped with automatic defrost mechanisms, meaning you can use your HRV all year round.
Technical Features
Fans
The SHR 150 comes with two factory-balanced fans with backward-curved blades. The motors come with permanently lubricated, sealed ball bearings to ensure long life and maintenance-free operation.
Heat Recovery Core
The aluminum heat recovery core is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. The core dimensions are 9” x 9” (229 x 229 mm) with a 15” (380 mm) depth. Our heat exchangers are designed and manufactured to withstand extreme temperature variations.
Defrost
A preset defrost sequence is activated at an outdoor air temperature of 23°F (-5°C) and below. During the defrost sequence, the supply blower shuts down and the exhaust blower switches into high speed to maximize the effectiveness of the defrost strategy. The unit then returns to normal operation and continues the cycle.
Serviceability
The core, filters, fans, and drain pan can easily be accessed through a latched door. The core slides conveniently out on our new easy glide core guides. A 17" (432 mm) clearance is recommended for the removal of the core.

The Fantech SHR 150’s housing is a 22-gauge galvanized steel cabinet with a pre-painted corrosion-resistant steel door.
Insulation
The cabinet is fully insulated with 1” (25 mm) high-density expanded polystyrene.
Filters
The SHR 150 features two washable electrostatic panel-type air filters measuring 8.5” (216mm) x 15” (380mm) x 0.125” (3mm).
Controls
The Fantech SHR 150 features an external three-position (Low/Stand By/Medium) rocker switch that offers continuous ventilation. Fantech offers a variety of external controls.
Installation
The unit is typically hung using the installation kit supplied with the unit. Mounting bolts are provided on the top four corners of the unit. An optional wall bracket is also available.
Warranty
The Fantech SHR 150 offers a limited lifetime warranty on the aluminum core, 7 years on the motors, and 5 years on parts.
