You pick the airflow you want on the built-in LCD, in 1 cfm steps. Virtuo technology then balances fresh and exhaust air by itself and keeps that balance for the life of the unit.
DampersMotorized dampers: no extra backdraft damper needed
The ports have built-in motorized dampers, and the maker states that no additional backdraft dampers are required on the ducts. When installing, don't screw the ducts to the ports so the dampers can move freely.
60%What it still recovers at −25 °C
The only efficiency figure that matters for a Québec winter, and the one the Code uses. An efficiency quoted without its temperature means nothing; this one is measured at a test airflow of 64 cfm.
DamperIt defrosts without depressurizing the house
In cold weather, a motorized damper closes the outdoor air intake and recirculates indoor air through the core to thaw it. The house doesn't go into negative pressure during the cycle: no cold air drawn in through leaks, and none of the imbalance manufacturers warn about when there's a fireplace or a combustion appliance.
