1,324 cu. ft./min: the unit that supplies an entire duct network
The 36,000 BTU GREE X-Match R32 moves 1,324 cu. ft./min of air. By far the highest airflow of all the R-32 ducted units we install, this figure - much more than the BTU capacity - defines what the unit can do: supply a duct network serving six to eight grilles across two levels from a single unit.
There is a second, more practical reason why this model often appears in renovation projects: the indoor unit is only 10.24 inches high. It is slimmer than all the other ducted units in the range, despite having a much higher capacity. In a basement ceiling void where every inch counts, this dimension can sometimes determine the project's feasibility on its own.

Three things we point out rather than keep quiet
The certification stops at -25 °C. This model is ENERGY STAR certified but does not have the cold-climate designation. No performance is certified below -25 °C, so we will not claim any.
The COP at -25 °C is 1.0. At that precise temperature, the unit delivers one kilowatt-hour of heat per kilowatt-hour consumed - the efficiency of an electric baseboard heater. It continues to operate and provide 19,800 BTU/h, which remains useful, but the savings disappear during those hours. In a Montreal winter, they number in the dozens; in Lanaudière or the Laurentians, they have a greater impact, and we take that into account in our recommendation.
Its capacity at -8 °C is lower than that of the 30,000 BTU model (23,400 versus 24,000), while its own capacity at -15 °C is higher. These are the certificate values exactly as stated. If your primary need is heating rather than air distribution, the 30,000 BTU model deserves serious comparison.
What makes this model the right choice
A large single-storey home, a cottage where one unit must serve two floors, a commercial space, or a fully finished basement with several enclosed rooms. Wherever the challenge is to distribute air rather than produce more of it, this model has an advantage that capacity alone does not explain.
It also removes 7.82 pints of water per hour, the best dehumidification performance in the range. In a basement or large space, this can effectively replace one or two portable dehumidifiers, with no floor unit or tank to empty.
The duct network becomes the project
At 1,324 cu. ft./min, the network is no longer an accessory to the unit: it is half the work. Generously sized main sections, large-radius elbows, balanced branches, and, above all, a return sized for the airflow. An undersized return is the defect we encounter most often on large ducted systems installed elsewhere: the unit struggles, the actual airflow never reaches its rated value, and duct noise sets in.
We calculate the network's pressure drop before installation. It is a step that cannot be corrected afterward.
Acoustics
Indoor unit: 38 to 43 dB(A). The difference between the minimum and maximum is the narrowest in the range, but the floor is high: this is not a unit to install directly above a bedroom without acoustic treatment. Technical room, corridor ceiling, or basement ceiling void, with insulation on the first duct section. Outdoor unit: 62 dB(A).
Installation data
Indoor unit: 52.76 x 25.79 x 10.24 inches. The unit is long, which is the trade-off for its slimness - plan for continuous linear clearance rather than a square enclosure. Outdoor unit: 39.38 x 16.81 x 29.38 inches. Connection: 1/4 - 5/8 inch.
220 V power supply, 23 A MCA and 35 A MOP, values taken from the outdoor unit. A 35 A circuit requires a serious panel check: we assess this before preparing a quote, and if an upgrade to 200 A is necessary, it is included in the estimate.
A note about the dimensions: GREE's specification sheet publishes an inch column for this model that actually corresponds to the outdoor cabinet. The indoor dimensions above are converted from the manufacturer's millimetres, which are consistent, and match those of the equivalent ducted unit already listed on our website.
Financial assistance
Eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program for $1,170 for an owner of an existing home. The absence of the cold-climate designation excludes the program's bonus. We verify the amount using Hydro-Québec's official tool when preparing the application.
