A Renovation Project, Not Just a Simple Appliance Purchase

At 18,000 BTU, the GREE Clivia R32 serves an entire floor: three to four rooms through a single duct network, with an airflow rate of 883 cfm. This is no longer an appliance you add in a corner of the ceiling. It is a renovation project with steps, trades, and a schedule, and that is what this page is about.

The Certified Figures

AHRI Certificate 215415552, ENERGY STAR listing 4514329.

  • SEER2 of 22.5 and EER2 of 14.0 in cooling
  • HSPF2 of 9.0 in heating
  • At -8 °C: 14,700 BTU/h, COP of 2.3
  • At -15 °C: 15,000 BTU/h, COP of 1.9
  • Up to -30 °C: 9,900 BTU/h at maximum capacity

The unit retains 83% of its rated capacity at -15 °C and carries ENERGY STAR's cold-climate designation. In practical terms, it continues heating the floor during the coldest week of January, while the backup heating you keep is needed only during peak demand.

$1,764 in Financial Assistance

This model qualifies for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program for $1,764 for the owner of an existing home, and its cold-climate designation makes it eligible for the program's bonus. We verify the amount using Hydro-Québec's official tool as of the planned installation date, and we prepare the application for you.

How a Project This Size Works

The Technical Assessment Comes Before the Price

We assess the ceiling cavity, electrical panel, possible condensate route, and outdoor unit location. The indoor unit measures 44.48 x 29.69 x 11.81 inches: it is long, but no taller than the 9,000 BTU models, which often makes it easier to fit than you might expect. A price provided without this visit is an estimate, not a quote.

Designing the Duct Layout

This is the step that determines the result. The number and placement of grilles, main sections, branches, and especially the return air - sizing the supply while forgetting the return is the most common flaw we correct in installations done elsewhere. The unit has high static pressure, allowing it to work through a genuine duct network, but no amount of static pressure can compensate for a crushed duct.

Electrical Coordination

220 V power supply. The minimum ampacity and maximum protection values are not published for this specific outdoor unit number, and we do not reuse those from a nearby model: circuit-breaker size cannot be inferred. Our electrician confirms the rating on the nameplate of the delivered unit and checks the panel's remaining capacity before work begins.

The Outdoor Unit and Neighbours

The outdoor unit measures 37.72 x 15.83 x 25.98 inches, with a 1/4 - 5/8 inch connection. We agree on the location with you: away from bedroom windows, on vibration-isolating pads, with sufficient clearance to prevent air recirculation. In dense areas, on the Plateau or in Verdun, this is what helps avoid tensions with neighbours.

Commissioning

Evacuation, charge verification, grille balancing, condensate inspection, and setpoint adjustment. A ducted system installed without balancing leaves one bedroom lukewarm and the living room overheated, regardless of the efficiency ratings on the specification sheet.

Everyday Comfort

Moisture removal of 3.80 pints of water per hour: across an entire floor, this is what makes it possible to maintain 24 °C in July without a heavy feeling. Indoor sound level of 24 to 40 dB(A), with the lower figure being the level at which the unit runs most of the time when properly sized.

Clivia or Crossover

Clivia is the name under which Dettson distributes this platform in Québec; GREE Canada sells it under the name Crossover. The certified efficiencies are identical at this capacity, as is the LogisVert amount. The choice depends on availability, the parts supply chain, and the service network - not performance.

R-32 and Warranty

R-32 refrigerant, A2L class, with low global warming potential. Our teams are trained and equipped for this class. The manufacturer's warranty covers the compressor and parts for ten years, with possible extension of the labour coverage.

Our Service Area

We carry out these projects in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore, and the South Shore.
