Service call for a Fujitsu wall-mounted air conditioner in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

An urgent call on a hot day in Montreal

At AirGreen , we regularly receive service calls in the middle of summer, when the heat becomes unbearable and air conditioning systems are put under strain. This is exactly what happened in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , where a duplex owner contacted us after noticing that his Fujitsu wall-mounted air conditioner was no longer blowing cold air.

The customer, concerned about a possible compressor failure, asked us to intervene quickly before the interior temperature exceeded 30°C. Our team arrived on site the same day.

On-site diagnosis: loss of efficiency and abnormal noise

Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that the outdoor unit , securely mounted on the second-floor brick wall, was running, but without producing the expected coolness. The fan was running, but the compressor seemed inactive. In addition, a metallic vibrating noise could be heard inside the wall duct.

Our technicians carried out a complete diagnosis:

  1. Checking the refrigerant pressure : the pressure gauge indicated too low a pressure, a probable sign of a micro-leak in the circuit.

  2. Electrical inspection : All connections were intact, but the compressor contactor showed signs of overheating.

  3. Drain and temperature probe check : no obstruction or water accumulation, but the interior probe displayed an inconsistent value.

Repair: Detection and correction of a refrigerant leak

After confirming the hypothesis of a leak on the flare connection , our technician:

  • isolated the circuit and performed a nitrogen pressure test ;

  • precisely detected the leak at the junction of the copper pipe;

  • tightened and resealed with silver solder to ensure durability;

  • replaced the compressor contactor and completely re-vacuumed the system;

  • recharged the R410A refrigerant according to the specifications of the manufacturer Fujitsu.

Once the system was restarted, the compressor resumed normal operation, and the indoor unit began blowing air at an outlet temperature of 8°C —evidence of restored efficiency.

Result: restored comfort and a more reliable system

A few minutes after the repair, the temperature in the room dropped from 29°C to 23°C , demonstrating the perfect efficiency of the system. The customer was particularly impressed by the noise discretion and temperature stability .

We took advantage of our visit to recommend annual preventative maintenance , which is essential to avoid coil clogging and gradual loss of performance. Regular maintenance not only extends the life of the air conditioner, but also reduces energy consumption by up to 15%.

AirGreen Maintenance Tips

For all owners of Fujitsu or other brand wall-mounted air conditioners , here are some best practices:

  • Clean the filters every 3 weeks during periods of intensive use;

  • Avoid blocking air circulation around the outdoor unit;

  • Check that there are no obstructions in the condensate drains ;

  • Schedule a professional interview in the spring before the heatwave.
