Does a wall-mounted mini split increase the value of your home?
Yes, in three ways: a lower heating bill, up to $2,712 from LogisVert for our SHARP units, and a resale premium when the buyer sees it. Run the numbers for your home.

The short answer: yes, but not the way people usually say it
When people want to add value to a home, they think kitchen, bathroom or an extra bedroom first. A wall-mounted mini split plays a different game: it works on comfort, on the bill and on what the buyer sees during the visit. Here is what we actually know, for homeowners in Greater Montréal.
A mini split adds value mostly to a home that has neither air conditioning nor efficient central heating, as long as it is recent, maintained and named in the listing.
In the United States, homes with an air-source heat pump sold for 4.3 to 7.1% more (Nature Energy, 2020), and those whose listing named it sold for 0.6 to 1% more (SECC, 2026). No equivalent study has been published in Québec: the value comes first from your bill and LogisVert.
Up to 40% winter heating savings, and up to 3 times less electricity than traditional heating.
$120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C for a cold-climate model: $2,268 for a SHARP CHU 12,000.
A premium observed when the buyer sees the heat pump. Only 8% of listings mention it.
What is a wall-mounted mini split?
A heating and cooling system with no ducts : an outdoor unit (the compressor) and an indoor unit on the wall, connected by refrigerant lines. Each head has its own setpoint: that is zoning.
The compressor captures heat from the outdoor air in winter and releases it outside in summer. On a stand, above the snow.
Two insulated pipes go through the wall. No air ducts to install in the house.
The air handler: it blows warm or cool air into the room, through its filter.
Remote or Wi-Fi: one temperature per room, a schedule, a mode.

How much does a mini split bring to your home?
Four settings. The total adds up the savings, the LogisVert grant and, if you sell, the premium observed in the studies.
Heating savings + LogisVert grant + premium if the listing mentions it.
Indicative estimate. Savings: Hydro-Québec (25 to 40% of heating electricity). Premium: American studies. LogisVert: confirmed by Hydro-Québec only.

Energy efficiency: how much heat for 1 kWh
A baseboard heater turns 1 kWh of electricity into 1 kWh of heat. An air-source heat pump moves more: that is its coefficient of performance (COP). The colder it gets, the lower it goes.
COP: heat delivered ÷ electricity used. Source: Natural Resources Canada. Hydro-Québec: up to 3 times less electricity than traditional heating. Rates went up 3% on April 1, 2026: every kWh saved is worth a little more each year.

What the studies say about resale price
One measures what the heat pump is worth. The other, what mentioning it in the listing brings. Both come from the United States.
The heat pump has value in itself
The researchers followed the same homes sold before and after an air-source heat pump was installed, and compared them with similar homes without one in the same county.
But almost nobody mentions it
In 2024 and 2025 sales, homes whose listing named the heat pump sold for 0.6 to 1% more. Yet it appeared in only 8% of listings.

In short: a good investment, if you do it right
Wall-mounted heat pumps add value to a home in four ways, and you get part of the cost back well before you sell.
Up to 3 times less electricity than traditional heating.
Up to 40% winter heating savings, plus LogisVert at purchase.
One setpoint per room, cooling in summer, heating in deep cold.
A discreet wall head, nothing on the floor or in the window.

Does a mini split really increase the value of a home?
In the United States, two solid analyses say yes, with gaps between them. A study published in Nature Energy (2020, sales from 2000 to 2018 in 23 states) measured a 4.3 to 7.1% premium for homes with an air-source heat pump. A 2026 report (SECC, NAR and 257) found +0.6 to 1% when the listing mentions it. We found no equivalent Québec study: here, the value comes mostly from the bill, the air conditioning and proof of a recent, well-maintained unit.
