Is there a list of ineligible products?

What you need to know about product eligibility under Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program

As part of the LogisVert – Efficient Housing program, Hydro-Québec offers attractive financial assistance for the purchase and installation of energy-efficient measures in homes, condos, multiplexes and other residential dwellings in Quebec. However, one key question often comes up among our customers: Is there an official list of ineligible products?

We answer this question precisely here, based on official Hydro-Québec documents and our experience in the field as certified HVAC installers in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and the South Shore .

There is no official document listing ineligible products.

There is no single list of products explicitly declared "ineligible" by Hydro-Québec. Instead, the logic of the program is based on identifying eligible measures and the strict conditions that each product or installation must meet .

In other words, any product or installation that does not exactly meet the eligibility criteria specified in the LogisVert guide is automatically considered ineligible .

At AirGreen, we help our customers avoid costly mistakes by systematically validating each piece of equipment before purchase or installation.

How do I know if a product is eligible?

The LogisVert program details the eligibility criteria for each type of measure in the official guide. Here are some concrete examples:

Wall-mounted or central heat pump

For a heat pump to be eligible, it must:

  • Be new , purchased in Quebec , and installed in an eligible home .

  • Be included in the list of efficient heat pumps published by Hydro-Québec.

  • Be installed by a company with a valid RBQ number and registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec .

  • Have an AHRI number .

👉 Any model not listed in the eligible heat pump list, or any partially replaced system (indoor unit only, for example), is not eligible.

Heat pump dryer

The device:

  • Must be without exhaust vent (unvented).

  • Must not be a condenser dryer .

  • Must be new , purchased in Quebec and installed in eligible housing.

👉 Condenser dryers or drying cabinets are explicitly not permitted .

Induction cooker

Only complete stoves are eligible. This means:

  • Must include at least four induction zones .

  • Must be equipped with a forced convection oven .

  • Hobs alone (without an integrated oven) are not eligible .

Common examples of ineligible items

Thanks to our field expertise, here is a practical list of common cases where equipment or work is considered ineligible :

  • Replacement of a single component (for example, replacing only the indoor unit of a heat pump).

  • Used or refurbished devices.

  • Products purchased outside Quebec (e.g. online or out of province).

  • Heat pumps installed in uninsulated attics (e.g. unheated attic).

  • Work carried out by an installer without an RBQ number or not registered in the official register.

  • Lack of detailed invoices with all the elements required by Hydro-Québec (serial number, AHRI number, RBQ number, etc.).

  • Products or works installed outside habitable areas (e.g. unheated garage).

Practical advice: how to avoid a grant refusal

1. Confirm the presence of the model in the official list

Before purchasing, consult Hydro-Québec's list of eligible heat pumps . This list is updated regularly.

2. Use a professional installer

At AirGreen , we strictly adhere to all the requirements of the LogisVert program. Our invoices systematically include the required details: RBQ, AHRI, GST/QST numbers, precise descriptions , etc.

3. Prepare complete photos and documents

Hydro-Québec often requires:

  • Photo of the outdoor unit nameplate .

  • Proof of ownership (property tax, deed of sale).

  • Detailed product and labor invoices.

4. Submit the application on time

The maximum period is 9 months following the date of installation of the first measure.

Special cases: certain products refused even if they are efficient

It is important to note that the performance or quality of a product does not guarantee its eligibility . A high-performance device but without registration in the AHRI database, or without local proof of purchase, will be automatically excluded.

For example, we have already seen customers buy heat pumps imported from Europe , which are very efficient, but are not eligible for the LogisVert program due to lack of AHRI identification or purchase in Quebec.
