Daikin wall-mounted air conditioner repair in Sainte-Julie

When a simple blower failure disrupts the comfort of a home

At AirGreen , we work weekly on residential HVAC systems that, while efficient, can develop failures due to wear and tear or neglected maintenance. This was recently the case in Sainte-Julie , on the South Shore of Montreal , where a customer contacted us about a problem with a Daikin wall-mounted air conditioner that was no longer blowing cold air despite a working indicator light.

Initial inspection: a wall-mounted unit appears intact

At first glance, the Daikin wall-mounted air conditioner appeared to be in good condition. The customer, aware of the unit's age (nearly 10 years old), had maintained its filters well, and the remote control was working normally.
However, upon our arrival, we noticed:

  • No airflow at the front outlet.

  • A relay noise every time it tries to turn on.

  • A smell of heated dust , a sign of a long winter rest without deep cleaning.

This wall-mounted air conditioner model from the Daikin residential range is known for its reliability, but the indoor fan motor (blower) can become clogged over time, especially if it is installed in a closed and rarely ventilated room.

Step 1: Diagnosis of the ventilation circuit

Our technicians opened the front hood to access the filters, coils and blower motor .
Technical findings:

  • Clogged filters , although regularly cleaned, showed a deposit of fine dust in the housing.

  • Fan impeller blocked by a thin layer of grease and caked dust.

  • Intact electronic board — no signs of burning or oxidation.

By testing the motor with a multimeter, we confirmed that the motor was still running , but was mechanically blocked .

Step 2: Disassembly and deep cleaning

We carefully disassembled the turbine and the engine, then carried out a complete cleaning:

  • Mechanical brushing of the fan blades .

  • Application of a biodegradable Daikin coil cleaner , designed to dissolve dust without damaging the fins.

  • Lubrication of the central motor bearing .

During drying, we also cleaned the often neglected condensate tray to prevent any water overflow or mold growth.

Step 3: Reassembly and Performance Testing

Once the system was reassembled, we restarted the air conditioner. From the first start, the cold air flow returned powerful and stable , with a measured temperature of 7 °C at the outlet , confirming that the external compressor was working perfectly.
We also have:

  • Checked the communication between the indoor and outdoor units.

  • Tested the infrared remote control and the different modes (cooling, dehumidification, ventilation).

  • Cleaned the filters again to remove any remaining residue.

Result: no abnormal noise , optimal air circulation and immediate customer satisfaction.

Step 4: Preventive tips to extend lifespan

We advised the client:

  1. Annual professional cleaning , including complete disassembly of the motor and disinfection of the condensate tray.

  2. Regular use of the “fan only” mode after each air conditioning period to dry the indoor unit.

  3. Check the condensate drain before the summer season to avoid leaks.

These simple actions ensure better durability of the Daikin system and healthy indoor air quality.
