Ducted (concealed duct) heat pumps: installation in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
All the comfort of a central system, without a single unit on the wall.
A ducted heat pump hides in a ceiling, a closet, the basement or the attic, then blows through short ducts to discreet grilles. Heating down to −35 °C according to the spec sheet, cooling in summer, LogisVert grant possible.

Where to install a ducted unit? Pick the hiding spot, watch the air flow.
Four hiding spots, four air paths. Slide the outdoor temperature: the house switches from heating to cooling, and the counter shows how many of our models keep up.
In the basement
The unit is far from the bedrooms and blows through the ground-floor floor. Handy when the basement ceiling is unfinished.
Rooms served: the basement, living room and kitchen
What we check during the visit: the length of the duct run and the refrigerant line route to the outside.

The plan works out the capacity with our starting rule (18,000 BTU per 1,000 sq ft, adjusted for ceilings), then picks the three of our 201 real models that best match your hiding spot and your priority.

Ducted heat pump in winter: slide to your coldest night.
111 models from 10 brands still heat at −25 °C, according to their spec sheet.
Quiet: indoor sound at low fan speed, according to the spec sheet
Rule of thumb: 10 dB more sounds about twice as loud.
Slim, low or high static ducted unit: duct length decides.
Low static pressure
For a short duct run: one to three grilles in neighbouring rooms. Often the quietest.
One ducted unit for the floor, or one head per zone on the same outdoor unit.
One zone: one ducted unit, one outdoor unit
The simplest option for a bedroom floor or a condo: one thermostat, grilles in every room served.

Ducted unit installation in five steps.
The form at the top of the page or a call at 514 316-2973. We note your rooms, the planned location and your LogisVert questions.
Ducted units: the real questions we get asked.
What exactly is a ducted (concealed duct) unit?
It’s a heat pump whose indoor unit is hidden: in a dropped ceiling, a closet, the basement or the attic. It blows warm or cool air through short ducts to discreet grilles. Outside, the outdoor unit looks like a wall-mounted heat pump’s.
How many rooms can a ducted unit serve?
A single-zone system serves one room or a few neighbouring rooms, for example a bedroom floor. For several zones set separately, we connect several ducted heads to a multi-zone outdoor unit: 50 of our models are indoor heads made for that.
Low or high static pressure: which one do I need?
Low static (and “slim” models) suits short ducts and few grilles, typically in a soffit or a closet. High static pushes air further, through a longer run with more grilles, often from the basement or the attic. We decide during the visit, by looking at the actual duct route.
Does it really heat in the middle of winter?
According to the spec sheets, 69 of our ducted models heat down to −30 °C and 7 down to −35 °C. During the visit, we look at the heat delivered at −8 °C and −15 °C, the size of the rooms and the backup heating already in place, so the house stays comfortable on the coldest days.
Is a ducted unit eligible for LogisVert?
Yes, if the model is ENERGY STAR certified and the outdoor unit is at least 12,000 BTU/h. Hydro-Québec pays $50 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C, or $120 for an ENERGY STAR cold-climate model, up to 100% of the cost before taxes. You must apply no later than 9 months after installation.
Is it noisy?
The unit is far from the bedrooms and air comes through grilles: it’s often the quietest system. On our spec sheets, indoor sound at low fan speed ranges from 22 dB for the quietest to a little over 40 dB for the large units.
Can one be installed in a condo?
Often, yes: in a soffit above the hallway or in a closet. The outdoor unit location must be approved by the condo board; we help you prepare the request with the model’s dimensions and sound level.
How much does an installation cost?
The price depends on the capacity, the duct length, the number of grilles and access. That’s why we come out for free: you then get a written quote within 24 hours, with the indicative LogisVert amount for the proposed model.
What maintenance should I plan for?
Clean the indoor filters as the manufacturer’s manual says, keep the grilles clear and have a refrigeration technician do a full maintenance every year. A clean ducted unit stays quiet and efficient.
Who does the installation?
Our own crews. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 with subclasses 15.8 Ventilation, 15.10 Refrigeration and 16 Electrical: the ducts, the refrigerant circuit and the electrical hookup are all covered.
What ducted unit capacity do I need?
Our starting rule is 18,000 BTU per 1,000 sq ft, adjusted for ceiling height, windows and insulation. The configurator on this page gives a first estimate; the free visit confirms it before any quote.
Do I need a permit to install a ducted heat pump?
It depends on the city or borough: the outdoor unit often has to respect setbacks and a sound level, and some cities require a permit. Our Permits and regulations page sums up the rules by city, and we check your case during the visit.
Which ducted brands do you install?
Nineteen brands: Gree, Durastar, Fujitsu, Lennox, Direct Air, Elios, Midea, Tosot, LG, ArcoAire, Bosch, Goodman, York, Hitachi, ACD, ForestAir, Senville, Samsung and Haxxair, for a total of 201 models from 6,000 to 60,000 BTU.
A well-installed ducted unit is neither seen nor heard.
We come to see your ceilings, closets and duct route. You get a written quote within 24 hours, with the model, the capacity and the indicative LogisVert amount.
