The Same Unit, a Different Name on the Box

GREE Clivia R32 is the name Dettson uses to distribute in Quebec the same ducted system platform that GREE Canada sells under the Crossover name. Same indoor unit, same format, same certified performance. What changes is the distribution network, and therefore parts availability and the warranty process.

We say this right up front because the question comes up with every quote, and because a customer comparing two nearly identical specification sheets has the right to know why they are.

Certified figures

AHRI Certificate 215406442, ENERGY STAR listing 3624582.

  • SEER2 of 22.0 and EER2 of 14.2 in cooling
  • HSPF2 of 9.2 in heating
  • At -8 °C: 8,800 BTU/h, COP of 2.8
  • At -15 °C: 9,500 BTU/h, COP of 2.16
  • Down to -30 °C: 6,900 BTU/h at maximum capacity

The COP of 2.16 at -15 °C is the best in the entire ducted-system lineup at that temperature, across all capacities. At -15 °C, the unit still delivers more than twice the energy it consumes, and it provides 9,500 BTU/h, which is more than at -8 °C. This is the behavior of a variable-speed compressor that increases its output with demand, and it is why this model earns ENERGY STAR's cold-climate designation.

The project matters more than the unit

With a small capacity like this, the machine itself never determines success. It is the sequence: on-site assessment, load calculation, duct layout, outdoor unit location, condensate routing, electrical coordination, and commissioning. Here is how we handle this type of project.

1. The visit

We measure the available ceiling clearance — the indoor unit measures 32.67 x 29.69 x 11.81 inches, and you must add space for duct connections and permanent filter access. A ducted system whose filter becomes inaccessible is one that people stop maintaining after two years.

2. The layout

We determine the number of grilles, their locations, and the duct sizes. The maximum airflow is 412 cu. ft./min, which comfortably covers one or two rooms. Return air matters just as much as supply air: it is the most common oversight.

3. The outdoor unit

The outdoor unit measures 31.58 x 13.78 x 21.84 inches and uses 1/4 - 3/8 inch connections. On a plexiglass-enclosed rear balcony or in a narrow yard in Montreal, this compact format often makes the difference. We agree on the location with you, place it on anti-vibration pads, and keep it away from bedroom windows.

4. Condos and condominium associations

If you live in a condominium, the association almost always regulates the outdoor unit's location and any facade penetrations. We provide the dimensions, sound level, and mounting details in a format the board can evaluate, which saves an entire cycle of meetings.

Quiet operation and humidity

Indoor unit from 24 to 38 dB(A) — the lowest setting is suitable for a bedroom. Moisture removal of 1.69 pints of water per hour, which is enough for a small area and addresses most of the discomfort in July.

Two points of transparency

Financial assistance. This model is not on the current list of appliances eligible for LogisVert. No 9,000 BTU ducted system appears on it, across all series. We check eligibility using Hydro-Québec's official tool when preparing your project, since the list changes, but we prefer that you build your budget without counting on it.

Electrical data. No source publishes the minimum circuit ampacity or maximum overcurrent protection for this specific outdoor unit model. We do not reuse values from a neighboring unit: the breaker size cannot be inferred. The power supply is 220 V, and our electrician confirms the rating on the nameplate of the delivered unit.

R-32 and warranty

R-32 refrigerant, A2L class, with a global warming potential approximately three times lower than R-410A. The manufacturer's warranty covers the compressor and parts for ten years, with a possible extension for labor.
