City of Terrebonne : Obtaining a Permit to Install a Heat Pump or Air Conditioning Unit
Dear residents of the City of Terrebonne,
We are AirGreen, your trusted partner for efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions. We understand that each municipality has its own rules and regulations regarding the installation of heat pumps, and Terrebonne is no exception.
Work Declaration:
- No Permit Required: To start your work, no permit application is necessary. You simply need to fill out a work declaration form. This form is available both on our website and at our offices. You can return it to us either by mail or via our email address.
Heat Pump Location:
- Side Yard, Rear, or Secondary Front Yard: Your heat pump can be installed in these specific areas of your property. It is important to choose a strategic location to ensure optimal efficiency of the unit while complying with city standards.
Noise Level:
- Compliance with Municipal Standards: Air conditioning units can emit noise that may disturb neighbors. Make sure that your unit’s noise level complies with the standards set out in municipal noise and nuisance bylaw number 82.
- Practical Advice: Before purchasing, we strongly recommend checking the manufacturer’s specifications regarding the noise level of the unit and installation conditions.
Citizen Cooperation:
- We rely on the cooperation of every citizen to maintain a peaceful and pleasant environment for all. Respecting the existing standards and regulations greatly contributes to quality of life and good neighborly relations.
Aesthetics:
- If your heat pump is visible from the street, consider installing an aesthetic or plant screen to conceal it, in harmony with the appearance of your property.
Contact and Support:
- For properties located on a street corner or for more information and advice, do not hesitate to contact the staff of the Land Use Planning Department at 450 471-3008 or by email at: amenagement.territoire@ville.terrebonne.qc.ca.
Client Responsibility:
- Although we are here to guide and assist you at every step, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all rules and to obtain neighbors’ approval when necessary. We can provide the necessary help and advice, but the final responsibility for obtaining permits and complying with local regulations lies with the client, unless otherwise specified in the contract.

- AirGreen is always available to serve you and guide you through the necessary procedures. We are committed to providing excellent customer service and supporting you in carrying out your HVAC projects.
