LogisVert Subsidy - Multi-Housing Bonus | Wall-Mounted Heat Pump

The LogisVert Multihousing Bonus is a specific financial aid offered as part of the Hydro-Québec LogisVert program. It is intended for owners of multiplexes and multi-unit residential buildings who wish to improve the energy performance of their building by installing ENERGY STAR® Certified Cold Climate Wall-Mounted Heat Pumps in eligible housing units.

This bonus stems from the 2030 Green Economy Plan of the Quebec government and specifically targets buildings located in energy poverty zones designated by Hydro-Québec. The goal is simple: to make wall-mounted heat pumps more accessible in eligible rental buildings, while improving tenant comfort and the energy efficiency of older buildings.

When all conditions are met, the subsidy can reach $220 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C for the purchase and installation of a wall-mounted heat pump of the cold climate type. This amount includes the regular LogisVert assistance for cold climate heat pumps, plus the multi-unit bonus provided for eligible buildings.

The Bonification Multilogements LogisVert is an additional financial aid intended for owners of multiplexes and multi-unit residential buildings who wish to modernize their housing with ENERGY STAR® Certified Cold Climate Wall-Mounted Heat Pumps. It specifically targets eligible buildings located in energy poverty zones designated by Hydro-Québec, often older buildings where improving heating and cooling can make a real difference for occupants. The goal is to help owners make their housing more comfortable, efficient, and attractive, while reducing reliance on traditional electric heating.

Normally, under the LogisVert program, an ENERGY STAR® – Cold Climate heat pump may qualify for financial assistance of $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C. With the Multiresidential Bonus, Hydro-Québec adds an additional amount of $100 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C for eligible buildings. The total amount can therefore reach $220 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C when all program conditions are met. This bonus thus represents an increase of more than 80% compared to the regular assistance for a cold climate heat pump.

For an owner, this bonus can make an installation project much more attractive, especially when it involves equipping multiple units in the same building. A cold climate wall-mounted heat pump can improve comfort in winter, provide efficient air conditioning in summer, and help modernize the perceived value of the building. For tenants, the benefit is just as tangible: a more stable temperature, better comfort season after season, and a heating solution that is much more efficient than electric baseboards alone. For the LogisVert Multiresidential Bonus, the targeted equipment is more specific than in the regular LogisVert program. Hydro-Québec refers to a wall-mounted mini-split air-to-air heat pump, meaning a wall-mounted heat pump installed in an eligible dwelling. This bonus does not apply to just any HVAC system: it applies to wall-mounted heat pumps installed in at least one eligible dwelling of a multiresidential building that meets the program's criteria.

The wall-mounted heat pump must be certified ENERGY STAR® – Cold Climate. This is an essential condition, as the subsidy amount is calculated based on the official capacity of the unit at -8 °C, not just the BTU rating displayed in the model's trade name. When all conditions are met, the bonus adds $100 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C to the regular assistance, reaching a potential total of $220 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C.

The complete system must be new, installed in an eligible residence, and include all necessary components, namely the outdoor unit and the indoor unit(s). The outdoor unit must have a minimum rated capacity of 12,000 BTU/h in cooling mode. The equipment must also be purchased from a store in Quebec, or online from a company with an address in Quebec, and the installation must be used for heating and cooling the eligible dwelling.

The bonus does not apply if the building is located outside an eligible area, if it was built after 1995, if the land value per dwelling exceeds the median of the administrative region, or if the main heating is not electric. The building must also have a separate electric meter for each dwelling.

The bonus targets owners whose tenants are responsible for their own electricity service subscription. If electricity is included in the rent or if tenants do not have their own meter, the project does not meet the requirements of the Multiresidential Bonus.

Non-certified ENERGY STAR® – Cold Climate heat pumps, models that are not mini-split air-to-air wall-mounted heat pumps, installations outside of living spaces, or the replacement of only one indoor or outdoor unit are not eligible. The rebate cannot be combined with the 5% Multiple Measures rebate or with any other offer from Hydro-Québec or a government agency for the same work.
