Thirty Thousand BTUs, and the Electrical Panel Question
Starting at 30,000 BTUs, a ducted system stops being an appliance you simply add and becomes one you plan for. The GREE X-Match R32 at this capacity requires a circuit with a minimum ampacity of 26 A and maximum protection of 30 A, as indicated on the outdoor unit. On a 100 A panel that already powers a range, dryer, and water heater, this demand is not always available.
This is the first thing we check, even before discussing ducts. An upgrade to 200 A represents a real expense, and it should appear in the quote rather than on a surprise invoice on the day of the work.

A Detail That Matters
This model is ENERGY STAR certified, but without the cold-climate designation, and its certification stops at -25 °C rather than -30 °C. This is not an administrative detail: it means that no performance is certified below -25 °C, so we will not promise any. If you are looking for a unit whose capacity is guaranteed at -30 °C, the Crossover and Extreme product lines are the ones to consider, up to 24,000 BTUs.
We say this plainly because the distinction is often misrepresented in the market, and a customer who discovers this limitation after installation is right to be unhappy.
What the Capacity Really Gives You
24,000 BTU/h at -8 °C with a COP of 2.89: this is the best capacity-efficiency combination in the entire line at that temperature, which is also when a Quebec home spends the most hours in winter. For a large single-story home, a bungalow with a finished basement, or a commercial space, this is the core of the sizing calculation.
7.40 Pints of Water per Hour
That is nearly twice the dehumidification capacity of the 24,000 BTU model. In a large space or basement, this addresses much of what drives people to buy a portable dehumidifier: musty odors, the clammy feeling in June, and cold surfaces that bead with moisture. The ducted system does this continuously, without a floor-standing appliance or a tank to empty.
Airflow, and an Anomaly We Are Pointing Out
The maximum airflow is 883 CFM. That is less than the 1,030 CFM of the 24,000 BTU model, despite its 6,000 BTU greater capacity. This is the figure published by GREE, and we are reproducing it as is rather than quietly correcting it.
The practical consequence: this unit produces a greater temperature difference between return air and supply air at a lower airflow. The ductwork must be designed with this reality in mind, and the number of grilles cannot be determined from the BTU capacity. We calculate the distribution based on the actual airflow.
Acoustics
Indoor unit: 36 to 45 dB(A), noticeably higher than lower-capacity models. This is not a unit to install above a bedroom without sound treatment: use a mechanical room, hallway ceiling, or basement crawlspace, with acoustic insulation on the first section of ductwork. Outdoor unit: 62 dB(A).
Installation Data
Indoor unit: 35.43 x 25.79 x 11.42 inches - more compact than the 24,000 BTU unit, which is surprising and can sometimes make integration easier. Outdoor unit: 39.38 x 16.81 x 29.38 inches. Connection size: 1/4 - 5/8 inch, power supply 220 V.
A note about the dimensions: GREE's specification sheet publishes an inch column for this unit that does not match its own millimetre values. The dimensions above were converted from the manufacturer's millimetre measurements, which are consistent.
Financial Assistance
This model is eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program in the amount of $1,200 for an owner of an existing home. The lack of a cold-climate designation makes it ineligible for the program's bonus, which explains the lower amount compared with lower-capacity units. We verify the amount using Hydro-Québec's official tool when preparing your application.
R-32 and Warranty
R-32 refrigerant, A2L class. The manufacturer's warranty covers the compressor and parts for ten years, with possible extension of the labour coverage.
