It goes in a ceiling cavity, a drop ceiling or a closet. You only see the grilles.
Static pressure of 0.10 in w.c. as standard, 0.24 in at most, per Samsung: short, well-designed ducts.
Samsung intends the Slim Duct for free-air discharge or a duct that serves only one room. We plan the duct route during the visit.
Samsung lists the Slim Duct among FJM Premium multi-zone heads. It can replace a wall head in a bedroom.
Where the air goes, and where the water goes.
The Slim Duct draws room air, heats or cools it, then blows it through a grille. Pick the mode and the return: from the bottom, Samsung warns that noise rises by 3 to 6 dB(A).

199 mm of unit, 219 mm of space to plan for.
The Slim Duct is 199 mm (7 13/16 in) high, and Samsung wants at least 20 mm between the unit and the ceiling: count on 219 mm, not including the hanger rods. It is also 900 × 440 mm (1,100 mm wide on the 18,000): it hangs below the joists, in a drop ceiling or a bulkhead, not between them. Enter the clear height of your ceiling space.
The unit fits in height. It also needs room for hanger rods, the drain and service access: we measure everything during the visit.
Less than the 219 mm to plan for (199 mm of unit and 20 mm under it). A closet or a bulkhead can work: let’s talk.

A pressure of 0.24 in. WC is that of a 6 mm column of water, about 60 Pa. The Slim Duct fan pushes air through short ducts: not through a whole-house duct network.

For installations completed on or after November 26, 2025, the unit must be ENERGY STAR certified.
The outdoor unit needs a nominal cooling capacity of at least 12,000 BTU/h.
Apply no later than nine months after installation. The grant never exceeds 100% of the pre-tax cost.
The amount follows the installed combination, outdoor and indoor, as listed under its AHRI number.
