The Samsung parts a Hylex install needs.

Required, optional or accessory: each part has its job.
Seven Samsung parts. We plan them in the quote when your install needs them: nothing hidden.

Control unit (ACU)
It goes between the outdoor unit, the thermostat and the indoor unit or furnace. Samsung requires it on every Hylex and sells it separately. Wi-Fi included.
A2L mitigation controller
With an HC coil on your furnace, the coil’s detector needs this controller to shut the system down and run mitigation. The HH unit already has its own.
Heat kits
They slide into the HH unit for backup heat, 5 to 20 kW depending on the model. With an HC coil, your furnace takes over in deep cold.
Single-point breaker kit
For the 15 and 20 kW kits: it lets them be fed from a single point. Samsung offers it without requiring it.
Float switch input
CN950With a store-bought condensate pump, its float switch plugs in here, on the wire supplied with the ACU. If water rises, the Hylex stops and SmartThings alerts you, per Samsung.
External contact module
Turns on the outdoor unit’s night quiet mode from an external contact, and provides run and error outputs.
24 V thermostat
1 or 2 stagesThe ACU follows the signals of a 24 VAC thermostat. Samsung recommends a 2-stage model.
Advanced controller
Connected to the ACU’s F3/F4, it lets you control the Hylex from the app. With a 24 V thermostat alone, the app monitors only.
Hylex outdoor unit
AC0**FCU*CGStandard or Premium, 2 to 5 tons. It talks to the ACU over two 18 AWG wires, up to 100 m.

Pick your setup: the list builds itself with Samsung part numbers, and what is required is marked.
Greyed-out sizes are not listed in Samsung’s submittal for the selected HH unit, or are ruled out in downflow.
In downflow, Samsung rules out the 10 kW kit on 24,000 BTU/h units: it is greyed out.

Float switch input
CN950The wire supplied with the ACU plugs into this 2-pin port (dry contact) and takes the float switch of a condensate pump. If water rises, the system stops and SmartThings alerts you, per Samsung.
SW1 switch
It sets electric backup to 1 or 2 stages. With a 2-stage heat kit, both stages are enabled here, per the manual.
Wi-Fi module

Maximum distance between the outdoor unit and the ACU.
Samsung recommends a 2-stage thermostat with the ACU.

The thermostat calls, the ACU answers: play both parts.
Each thermostat terminal sets something off in the Hylex. Turn on Y1, Y2, W1 or W2 and watch what starts, with an HH unit or on your furnace.
The ACU answers
At start-up, Samsung says to allow at least 3 minutes for all the kit’s sequencers to cycle on, and up to 5 minutes to cycle off: shown here sped up.
For dual fuel, Samsung calls for a Samsung communicating control or a 24 V thermostat that supports it.

24 tiny switches, and the answer to “why is it doing that?”
On the ACU, three rows of DIP switches set the fan, the condensate pump and the leak alarm. Pick what you notice and the switch behind it lights up.
The fan waits before blowing in heating
- Off: enabled · default
- On: disabled
That’s cold-air prevention: at the start of heating, the fan stays off for up to 5 minutes while the coil warms up. It starts sooner if high pressure reaches 269 psi.
It keeps blowing after it stops
- 0 s · default
- 30 s
- 60 s
- 90 s
The fan keeps going for a while to clear the leftover heat. If the indoor unit has no such feature, or the fan runs through G1, G2 and G3, Samsung recommends 30 s.
The fan starts earlier and stops later
- 0 s · default
- 5 s
- 10 s
- 15 s
A delay for defrost and cold-air prevention. If the indoor unit has no such feature, or the fan runs through G1, G2 and G3, Samsung recommends 10 s.
During defrost, the air stops (or not)
- Off: fan off
- On: fan on
With the fan off, no cold air blows into the house during defrost. We pick the setting for your indoor unit.
In summer, the air is drier
- Off: enabled · default
- On: disabled
When the thermostat calls for dehumidification, the ACU pushes cooling harder. Samsung warns the thermostat may then cycle off and on more often.
There’s a condensate pump
- Off: disabled · default
- On: enabled
A store-bought pump is enabled here. Its float switch plugs into the CN950 input, with the supplied wire: if water rises, the system stops and alerts you.
Another brand’s detector sends its alarm
- Off: normally open (recommended)
- On: normally closed
Normally open: 24 V reaches the alarm terminal when there’s a leak. That’s the setting Samsung recommends.
24 V thermostat or Samsung control?
- Off: 24 V thermostat
- On: Samsung 2-wire control
With the Samsung control, its built-in sensor runs the temperature, by default.
Three fan speeds
- On/On or Off/Off: the thermostat decides · default
- Off/On: 3 speeds, Y only
- On/Off: 3 speeds, Y1 and Y2
The ACU can run three speeds. The logic is further down, in “Three speeds”.

The ACU runs three fan speeds on most air handlers and furnaces, per Samsung. The colours line up: yellow, blue and red for G1, G2 and G3.
Out of the factory: yellow, blue and red on taps 1, 2 and 3. For more airflow on second-stage cooling or in heating, the red wire moves to tap 4 or 5. In downflow, it goes on tap 5.
No relay: the ACU uses the unit’s two cooling inputs, per Samsung.
Without two cooling inputs, Samsung calls for the

The sensor doesn’t beep: its signal goes to other parts of the system. Pick your setup, then run the drill and follow the signal, part by part.
The sensor is replaced after 10 years, per Samsung: safety standards don’t allow calibrating it in the field.
