Samsung Hylex heating element kits add electric auxiliary heat to the multi-position modules (MPAH) of the R-454B Hylex™ lineup. Samsung offers them as an option for the HH**M**C11H1 modules, paired with standard and premium Hylex™ outdoor units.
The backup that completes a central heat pump
In extreme cold or while the outdoor unit is shut down, the element takes over. The ACU MXD-U001XN control module, required with Hylex MPAH modules, runs the auxiliary heat in one or two stages (terminals W1 and W2) depending on its settings. We offer three outputs: 10 kW (HA10E0CH1), 15 kW (HA15E0CH1) and 20 kW (HA20E0CH1).
Compatibility with the MPAH module
The allowed output varies from one module to another. For example, Samsung lists elements from 5 to 20 kW for the HH48MCCC11H1 module and from 7 to 20 kW for the HH60MACC11H1. Samsung also specifies that the HH24MCAC11H1 must not take the 10 kW element in a downflow configuration.
Electrical connection
- For the 15 and 20 kW elements, Samsung offers the HA15B0CH1 single-point breaker kit.
- The connection follows the instructions supplied with the element and the electrical code.
- The work is done by a master electrician.

What to know before installing
- The allowed size depends on the MPAH: Samsung lists 5 to 20 kW for the HH48MCCC11H1 and 7 to 20 kW for the HH60MACC11H1, for example.
- Per Samsung, the HH24MCAC11H1 must not be used with the 10 kW kit in downflow configuration.
- The ACU control unit MXD-U001XN is mandatory with Hylex MPAH air handlers.

It depends on the MPAH model; Samsung lists the allowed kits on each air handler’s submittal. Send us the model number (HH…C11H1) and we confirm before ordering.
What is the HA15B0CH1 for?
Samsung describes it as a single point breaker kit for the 15 and 20 kW heat kits.
Does the kit work without the ACU?
Hylex MPAH air handlers require the MXD-U001XN ACU control unit; it runs the backup heat stages (W1, W2).
