Why leak detection matters with R-32
Newer heat pumps increasingly use R-32, a refrigerant classified A2L: low toxicity and mildly flammable. Units that use it are designed with their own safety measures, including leak detection. According to Fujitsu, several R-32 AIRSTAGE units already have a built-in sensor, including the ARUH ducted units and the AMUH air handlers. Requirements vary with the unit, the refrigerant charge and the room.

- The model number of the indoor unit and of the outdoor unit, shown on their nameplates
- The refrigerant listed on the nameplate (R-32, R-410A…)
- A photo of where the unit is installed, if possible
