Quick facts
The Samsung MXD-U001XN ACU control module (AHU Control Unit) is the required interface for Samsung Hylex™ R-454B heat pumps. It is installed between the outdoor unit, the 24 V thermostat and the indoor system: a Samsung MPAH module, a coil on a furnace or another brand’s air handler. Samsung describes it as required to run its AC0**FCU*CG/AA units with this equipment.
A Hylex heat pump on almost any indoor system
The ACU receives the thermostat calls and controls the compressor (Y1, Y2), the fan (G and three speeds), two-stage auxiliary heat (W1, W2), the reversing valve (O/B) and dehumidification (D). It stops the fan during defrost. To the outdoor unit, two conductors are enough (F1, F2), up to 328 ft. An RDS input receives the refrigerant leak detection signal, and the included Wi-Fi module connects the system to the SmartThings app.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really mandatory?
Yes. Samsung describes it as required for Hylex AC0**FCU*CG/AA heat pumps to run with an air handler or a furnace with a coil, and lists it as mandatory with its Hylex MPAH air handlers and coils.
Does it work with my current furnace?
Samsung designs the ACU for other brands’ air handlers and furnaces fitted with a coil. We check your furnace and coil before proposing the match.
Can I keep a regular thermostat?
Yes. The ACU takes signals from a standard 24 V thermostat; a setting also allows a Samsung communicating controller.
Can you install it?
Yes. We install the ACU, do the wiring and set the DIP switches when we install your Hylex heat pump, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
