In summer, WindFree mode cools the room through thousands of micro-holes, with air moving at less than 0.15 m/s. In winter, the Max Heat wall unit still heats at -30 °C and the Hylex central system uses your existing ducts down to -25 °C. Cooling without the draft: what WindFree does.
A regular wall unit cools by blowing. In WindFree mode, the vane closes and air comes out through thousands of micro-holes: the room stays cool, with no stream of air on you. Compare the two modes.

06 · Home with ducts: Hylex
Your ducts, a Samsung central heat pump down to -25 °C.
Hylex replaces central air conditioning and heats the house through the ducts, with R-454B refrigerant. Two ways to install it: with its indoor unit, in place of an electric furnace, or as an “add-on” to the furnace you keep.

Central: in place of an electric furnace
The Hylex indoor unit (HH series) replaces the old electric furnace and uses your existing ducts. Samsung provides backup heating elements for the coldest days.
Add-on: the furnace stays
We add a Hylex coil (HC series) on your furnace. The heat pump heats, and the furnace takes over when needed. We don’t touch the burner or the gas or oil supply.
A control unit to plan for
According to Samsung, Hylex requires its MXD-U001XN control unit, sold separately, and works with a standard 24 V thermostat.
Why Premium for LogisVert
Hylex Standard with a Samsung indoor unit is not ENERGY STAR certified: no LogisVert amount is shown for it. The Premium is, for cold climates.
