02 · Same code, other meaning

A “universal” code chart will mislead you

The same E1 means three different things depending on the brand. Without the brand and the series, a code tells you nothing.

Gree · Extreme, CrossoverE1

High-pressure protection

The Gree Canada manual: restart, the code normally clears. It comes back? Technician.

Restart once
Durastar · F1A seriesE1

Communication between the two units

Durastar asks you to call the service centre for all its codes.

Before you call, note three things

The brand, the series and the model

On the unit’s label or in your installation papers. Add the exact code, as it shows, and how long it has been coming back.

Lamps instead of a code?

Count them, or film them

Fujitsu, Hitachi and LG turn the fault into blinks. LG suggests filming the lamps with your phone to count them properly.

Eight two-minute checks, taken from the manuals

Tick them off as you go. If everything checks out and the code stays, it’s time to call.

  • A hot or damaged wire

07 · Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most on the phone

My code isn’t on the list. What should I do?

Codes change from one series to the next, even within a single brand. Write down the code exactly as it shows, the brand, the series and the model (on the unit’s label or in your installation papers), then book a service call. With those three details, the technician arrives with the right part more often.
