A high and discreet integration into a family living room
In an apartment in Outremont , we installed a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump above a low cabinet, on a solid wall with moldings. The client's objective was clear: to achieve four-season comfort in a multipurpose room (games room and reading corner) while preserving a refined aesthetic. The high positioning, just under the cornice, allows air to be projected along the ceiling for even diffusion towards the center of the room and the adjoining hallway, without hindering the opening of doors or the use of furniture.
The building's layout provides an exterior façade immediately behind this wall. We therefore opted for a "back-to-back" route : a single through-hole, gravity drain , and very short refrigerant connections. This choice maximizes the efficiency of the Fujitsu inverter unit, reduces pressure losses, and limits perceived noise, since the outdoor compressor operates at partial load most of the time.
From planning to commissioning: the AirGreen method
Load study and capacity selection
Before any installation, we take measurements of the room: floor area, ceiling height, window type, and solar exposure. The actual volume and family usage lead to a capacity of 12,000 BTU —enough modulation to cover summer heat peaks and supplemental heating during the off-season. Precise placement on a molded wall

Installation template : we position the wall plate by integrating the relief of the upper molding to maintain ≥ 10 cm of clearance above the interior head.

Structural marking : anchors in the uprights and, between them, expanding metal dowels for a hold > 60 kg.

Level and plumb : fine adjustment to ensure drainage without stagnation on the evaporation tray.
Drilling, air barrier and drain
The 65 mm hole is made with an outward slope (≈ 5 mm) to allow gravity flow of the condensate. On the inside, we restore the continuity of the vapor barrier : sleeve, closed-cell foam then elastomeric mastic. The drain pipe receives an anti-drip tab at the outside outlet, keeping water away from the facings and avoiding marks on the masonry.
Refrigerant connections and cowling

1/4–3/8 copper insulated with high-density cellular foam, bend radii respected to avoid constricting the fluid.

Estimated total length : only 1.5 to 2 m thanks to the “back-to-back” journey.

On the outside, white UV trunking with stainless steel collars; large radius elbows to protect the insulation and reduce losses.
Power supply and safety

Dedicated circuit from the main panel to a proximity switch at the condenser; watertight cable glands and CSA compliant conduit.

Instrumented commissioning
Our technicians perform a deep vacuum (target < 300 microns ) with a resistance test, then validate the refrigerant charge according to the actual length of lines. The checks include:

summer operating pressures and simulated defrost sequence .
A commissioning report is provided to the customer, useful for the Fujitsu warranty and for any future diagnostics.

Outside, the chute follows a vertical and discreet path, aligned with the facade elements. The condenser is installed in the backyard, on an anti-vibration slab , with 60 cm of lateral clearance and 1 m on the front face.
Winter/summer and snow management

Free-standing defrost drain, without stalactites; drain outlet away from woodwork and passage.

Condenser installation height adapted to snow compaction ; if exposed to a loaded roof, possible addition of a snow guard .

In summer, the direction of the air discharge prevents recycling and protects play areas.
Safety and longevity

Tightening torque precisely applied to flare fittings, with esterified oil; insulating caps.

Service loop provided in the chute to facilitate possible replacement or the addition of a second head in the medium term.

HVAC Maintenance: Our Simple and Effective Plan
A high-performance system stays efficient if it is maintained. Our annual HVAC maintenance plan includes:

thorough washing of the evaporator (fine cleaning of the fins and the tangential fan);

drain control and disinfection of the tank;
-
checking electrical connections , currents and communication;

rinsing the condenser, gently straightening the fins with a comb;

validation of parameters and updating of usage advice (setpoint ranges, Dry mode, weekly programming).
